Okay computer geeks (I am not as much a computer geek as I would like to be) is it worth it for me to buy this $9 Pogoplug, probably install a different OS, and connect my 4TB HD? It’s for my design work, videos for Plex (okay, primarily for this), and just everything else I don’t need on my computer. Basically want to turn my HD into an NAS but I totally don’t have the money to buy the average NAS. And I can do it as long as I have a step-by-step tutorial to help me.
Also if you have any alternatives that are fairly cheap (I’m talking under $30) that would be cool too!

ふむふむ、フリーアカウントのサービスは終了とな。6 月 15 日以降は凍結されるとな。無制限有料プランを安くしてあげるから、そっちに移れとな。ふむふむ。 つまり、5GB の無料プランが終了するので早めに必要なファイルは移さなきゃですねぇ。単に Cloud ストレージ（Pogoplug サーバー上の）がロックされるだけなので有料プランに申し込めばアクセスできるようになるということらしい。 パーソナルクラウドである、あのちっこいハード（Pogoplug Mobile とか）のストレージには今まで通りアクセスできる感じですかね。 それと、Pogoplug のインフラを使用していた Yahoo Box 容量無制限オプション も新規受付を終了したみたいです。 「容量無制限オプション」新規申し込み停止のお知らせ ふむふむ、大きな動きですねぇ。 そして、本家である Pogoplug のウェブページをチェックしてみると、、、 https://pogoplug.com/ja/ ふむふむ、見事に崩れてます。まともな会社のまともな状態じゃありませんねぇ。 まあ、だいぶ前から死亡フラグ的なのは立ってたんでしょうけど、いよいよなのでしょうか？それとも、どこかへ吸収（Dropbox とか Box とか）されてより良いサービスとして生まれ変わるのでしょうか？ ボクは結構気に入っていて使ってはいるのですが、Pogoplug Cloud 無制限版は使用しておりませんでした。ってか、長い間検討していました。いや、今でも検討中です（笑）新しい価格は $29/年ですから、そうとう安いですよねぇ。30 日間のフリートライアルも出来るみたいですから申し込んでも良さそうですねぇ。ただ、Windows/ Mac 版デスクトップアプリは大分前のバージョンから Cloud ストレージ（Pogoplug サーバー上の）を PC のドライブとしてマウント出来なくなっちゃったんですよね。まあ改悪アップデートってやつですね。ただ、今でも古いバージョンを入手すればマウント出来ます。ただ、今後 Pogoplug が生まれ変わったとして古いバージョンが使えなくなる可能性は高そうですね。ってか、私だったそうしますもん（笑）利便性を考えて最初はドライブとしてマウントできるようにしたけど、思ったよりサーバーへの負荷が大きかったんだと思いますよ。 ってことで、リミットである 6 月 15 日までに Pogoplug Cloud のデータを移動しなきゃですね。正直気に入ってたので Pogoplug の今後を優しく見守りたいと思います。 そして、あんなに Pogoplug 推ししてたプロブロガーさんと言われる人たちは、今回の件に関して「だんまり」ですね（笑）まあ、そんなもんでしょ。その後使ってもいなかったんだと思います。
