 Hello, everyone!

We’re two nerds from Scotland who love film and love talking about it. We were cursed to transform and live our lives as aimless plastic bags, living in a radio studio and occasionally assuming our human forms. We figured while we were stuck there, we could sit down for an hour and talk about the techniques and aspects of film and the films around some of the best and worst that the subjects have to offer. 

If you fancy sitting down with us, we’d be more than happy to talk. Both of us have been working on this project for weeks and we’re very excited to see how it’s turned out. If you like podcasts about film and movies and enjoy obscure rambling, I’d say you’ll have a good time with us. There comes a point where you realise that most public conversation is stage-managed. Words are pre-approved, opinions are fenced in, and anything genuinely curious or uncomfortable is labelled “problematic” and quietly buried. The result is a culture that talks constantly yet says very little.

Totally Mad Citizen was born out of that frustration.

This podcast is not a performance and it isn’t a brand exercise. It’s a weekly space to think out loud in a world that increasingly discourages independent thought. A place where ideas are allowed to be messy, incomplete, and occasionally confrontational without immediately being shut down by slogans or moral posturing.

The title is deliberate. “Mad” is the word now used to describe anyone who refuses to parrot approved narratives. “Citizen” matters because this isn’t the voice of an expert class or a media institution. It’s the perspective of someone living in the real world, noticing patterns, contradictions, and cultural decay in real time.

What the Podcast Is (and Isn’t)

Totally Mad Citizen is not about declaring absolute truth or positioning myself as an authority. It’s about questioning. Exploring. Pulling at threads and seeing what unravels.

Some episodes will focus on politics. Others on culture, media, technology, psychology, faith, or history. Some ideas will land cleanly. Others will feel unresolved. That’s intentional. Real thinking rarely arrives pre-packaged with neat conclusions.

This also isn’t outrage theatre. There’s enough of that already. The aim is reflection, not constant rage. Anger has its place, but clarity lasts longer.

Why Now

We live in a time where speech is technically free but socially policed. Where people self-censor not because they’re wrong, but because they’re tired of being attacked, misrepresented, or punished for asking the wrong question.

At the same time, trust in institutions is collapsing. Media narratives shift weekly. Political language grows more theatrical and less honest. Technology advances faster than our moral frameworks can keep up. People feel something is off, but struggle to articulate it without being dismissed.

Totally Mad Citizen exists to give voice to that unease.

Not to exploit it. Not to monetise fear. But to sit with it, examine it, and talk through it honestly.

The Format

The podcast will be released weekly, every Wednesday. Episodes are recorded without scripts, without overproduction, and without the need to sound “safe.” It’s raw by design. The imperfections matter. Polished thought can come later. First comes honesty.

Listeners aren’t expected to agree with everything said. In fact, disagreement is healthy. The only requirement is curiosity.

Who This Is For

This podcast is for people who think something has gone wrong but refuse to surrender to cynicism. For those who feel increasingly out of place in modern discourse yet still care deeply about truth, meaning, and civilisation. For citizens who don’t want to be managed, infantilised, or morally blackmailed into silence.

If you’re looking for comfort, this probably isn’t it. If you’re looking for clarity, questions, and a voice that isn’t pretending everything is fine, you’re in the right place.

Final Thoughts

Totally Mad Citizen isn’t here to save the world. It’s here to tell the truth as best it can, in real time, without fear of being labelled, mocked, or dismissed.

Sometimes thinking looks like madness to a society that’s lost its grip on reality.
