i have pretty solid arguments for why phoenix would still have a strong support system in the seven year gap, but there is untapped potential in layton being a part of that system, especially if kristoph is threatening phoenix or others from ace attorney. my arguments:
hershel’s in academia, not the legal system
hershel’s not in japanifornia
hershel isn’t even on the same continent
most importantly: hershel’s brother, boy best friend, and assistant are all varying levels of mass criminals. phoenix presenting forged evidence is small potatoes
