Another plunny about post-canon Uraichi. Inspired by Emperor's New Clothes by Jann.
Ichigo: Shun-jii proposed me to head the 8th division.
Urahara: Oh! Congratulations then. You seem too troubled, though~
Ichigo: Yeah, I need to choose an experienced officer as my second in command, because I barely know enough about Soul Society and Seireitei.
Urahara: Do you want me to be yours?
Ichigo: W-What?!
Urahara: Do you want me to be your second in command? Really, Kurosaki-san, are you daydreaming or something~
Ichigo: Ugh, shut up, Getaboshi! Anyways, haven't you been a taichĹ? Being second in command after that is kinda...
Urahara: Not that prideful.
Ichigo points at Urahara's haori. Urahara shrugs without a real response.
Ichigo: But you *have been* a taichĹ. Wouldn't it be humiliating to be under Mayuri's command for example?
Urahara: It would. ... Oh, Kurosaki-san, no surprise you were told to find someone more experienced. It's not the same as Japanese army. Every taichĹ owns a division under their command and everyone in it. Unless direct soutaichĹ's order, I wouldn't be obligated to obey to anyone but you.
Ichigo is positively red now.
Urahara: If anything, it would be disgraceful for Kurotsuchi to have a rival with lower rank than his.
Ichigo: Still...
Urahara: And if you want me so much to be loyal only to you-
Ichigo: Wha?!
Urahara: -meaning not allowing Hirako or Kurotsuchi to order me around, you can always to talk to soutaichĹ about it. Joking, of course.
Ichigo: It's an option.
Urahara: Excuse you?
Ichigo: It's Shun-jii who wants me as his successor so might as well give this much.
Urahara: Are you sure you want to start your captaincy with an abuse of power and a request for special treatment.
Ichigo: Don't care. So. Will you be my second in command then?

@zhuoyichenpretty âs post and the jokes it inspired keep rattling in my head as I resist the urge to spoil myself of the ending any more than I already have.
Behold what my brain has spawned:
Some time between retrieving dragon bits everything comes to a screeching halt because heâs pregnant somehow and the news gets out as a trickle but erupts like a breaking damn afterwards.
Accusations are being thrown around everywhere by everyone. Ji Ling isnât saying anything about who the other parent is, fan bases factions are forming based on who people think the parent is, shouting matches are threatening to break out in the middle of hallways, efficiency has gone out the window for day to day tasks.
Wu wangyan, just for the chaos it would cause, has thrown her own hat into the ring as a potential parent, saying she, her beloved Xiao mei, and Ji Ling can raise this child as a proper fox. Li Jie is horrified that people think heâd do something so disgraceful (his ideas) to his Longshen Daren but is also pleased that people are acknowledging his devotion to his god and lord
Wu Shiguan can only cover his face and try not to sigh too hard. There is no way heâs the other parent (is there?? Dragon magic bullshit causing weird things to happen????) but no one is listening to him, especially the faction thatâs formed around the idea of him being the parent.
A full out brawl breaks out, only being stopped by Bai Zeâs purple lightning threatening to taze the shit out of anyone who keeps fighting, only to cause a riot when he claims to be the other parent saying that he âlooks forwards to teaching his child everything he knowsâ and that he âhopes his child inherits his lightningâ
Ji Ling doesnât actually know who the other parent is becauseâŚ. Uh, itâs actually made up from bits of all the spiritual energy everyone throws around him interacting with his ring in a weird way? And Iâll throw in ji can as the final catalyst because he decided the best way to prevent ji ling from being so lonely ji can consumed him was to force the polycule through baby?
Everyone ends up living together in shiling sect, no one dies, thereâs no sad people, and the childâs fantasy race is ???????? And they have like at least 4 dads, 2 moms, and a dozens of uncles and aunts.
Iâve started watching Kaiju No. 8 and have a plunny idea
Househusband Kafka who is legally married to Mina. Those two can be romantically married or platonically married and have picked up all the signed of a happily married couple without realizing it. Aka, âBecause this is my First Lifeâ k-drama (even though I havenât gotten too far into it and they are both working young adults)
Canon happens as normalâŚto the extent that Mina knows that Kafka can turn into a Kaiju, but thinks that it is a slow transformation happening to him. She has the idea that it is reversible and pushes Kafka to be seen by the Kaiju experts and doctors to get the transformation reversed. Even though Kafka already knows that it might be impossible to reverse this at all.
More thought out stuff below
Pre-Marriage
Kafka and Mina unexpectedly reunited one day in the middle of Minaâs career. It would have been a joyful reunion if it wasnât for the fact that both smelt like Kaiju extract.
The two met as Kafka was cleaning up a Kaiju and Mina is tasked with looking out for the cleanup crew in case if the corpse had any hidden failsafe organs. There was one, the Kaiju had a function of releasing extract as a spray and had it loaded up before it was killed. It sprayed only on Kafka and Mina. Luckily there is a public shower area nearby, so the two were able to get cleaned up quickly. They used the time waiting for transportation to pick them up to catch up. Before leaving they exchanged numbers
Time goes on, the two meet when they can until it get to the point where people recognize Mina in public. As a figure for Kaiju extermination, there are mixed reactions people have for her. Especially a significant sponsor who thinks that Mina should be married already and offers one of his children as a candidate.
Mina complains about this to Kafka when they are hanging out at her house with food and drinks. Then a flash of inspiration strikes Kafka. He suggests that the two become legal partners. That way, if someone tries something like that to Mina again then she has an excuse to refuse them. Her coworker can know about the twoâs arrangement as well for a good laugh. Plus if she ever finds someone she wants to actually date, then they can divorce. Also taxes.
Plan in motion early in the morning and with alcohol in their veins, the two draft a contract and legal certificate. That includes mundane things such as rent, groceries, cooking (Kafka cooks for 80% of the time and Mina cooks when she can if she wants to. The 20% is if they canât stomach food that day), etc; to the more Kaiju related insurances polices, visitation rights, and what kind of ceremony do they want to do. When they wake up, they both have a killer migraine and a crude drawing of Bakko for some reason. (The drawing has a special place on the fridge)
Post-Marriage
For the two of them, it feels as though nothing much changes about their relationship besides living together now with Bakko the giant white tiger. The tiger gets spoilt by Kafka and Mina tried but fails to fix Bakkoâs behavior whenever the tiger sees Kafka after work. That is, pouncing on Kafka and licking his face a lot.
Outsiders notices things differently however. They are domestic.
When Mina forgot to bring a lunch one day at work and was going to get something from the canteen, Kafka somehow arrives at her office with two matching lunchboxes. She brings him to the canteen and others just watch as the two eat lunch while talking about Kaiju, what does Mina want to eat for dinner, chores, walking Bakko, and grocery request to pick up on the way home?!
When Kafka is about to enjoy some pudding during work, Mina barges in wearing sunglasses and Kafkaâs hoodie. She then grills him about hiding the pudding at home. He argues that she shouldnât have an entire cup of pudding every day, She argues back he shouldnât do that as well. The two compromise in a corner of the break room and are seen pouting while sharing Kafkaâs cup of pudding. Kafkaâs coworkers let the two be since they are used to Minaâs unannounced visits.
While working, it is uncommon to see Kafka call Mina while she is being transported to a certain location during a Kaiju attack. If one listens in, they can hear her debating with Kafka on the best place to shoot the Kaiju. It is always 50/50 on who wins the debate since more often than not it is cut off when Mina arrives at her destination.
However, Mina calling Kafka while he is on his way to a clean up location is more common. She gives him info what to look out for when taking care of the Kaiju corpse that she noticed in battle. He then asks if she noticed anything else unique about the Kaiju. If she wasnât in the battle, the two gush about the fight and distinguishing characteristics about the Kaiju. The information that Kafka learns helps reduce the work related accidents compared to other clean up crew teams. He even scores employee of the month a few times.
In the dead of night if there are no Kaiju attacks, Kafka and Mina sometimes spend the nights holding each other or sleeping with Bakko when things are too much. If they remember the disaster of their hometown, if either of them had a horrible day where someone they know died during a Kaiju attack, or even nightmares.
There are times when the two get into an argument about Kafka not being in the Defense Force yet/applying for another job in the Defense Force that doesnât require him being in the front lines frequently. They both donât talk about Kafka not applying for the Defense Force as they both hold onto that dream.
Canon
((My knowledge isnât that great. Iâm only watching the anime so far and they are concluding the fungus Kaiju. So take these what ifs instead))
When Mina arrived home after Kafka gains the ability to turn into a Kaiju, she and Bakko are greeted with the sight of Kafka cooking while using a tail as well. Instincts kick in and Mina has Kafka pinned on the ground with her weapon. Kafka tries to calm her down but it just stresses her out and stresses him out more in turn. The stress builds until Kafka ends up with a tail, sharp mouth, and an arm transformed before Ichikawa calls to remind Kafka to be careful not to transform in public. Mina then looks at Kafka horrified for him and thinks of what to do when Kafka interrupts Mina. He tells her not to worry, this might be a good thing in achieving his dream.
In the end, Mina decides to keep quiet about Karlaâs partial transformations and for the Defense Force to pay special attention to the recruits of this batch. She doesnât realize that Kafka can transform into Kaiju No. 8
As Kafka works as a cadet the Defense Force staff treats him differently. Before, he is somewhat known to the staff members as Minaâs âhousehold-husbandâ and is treated as a giant teddy bear sometimes, but now as a cadet, he witnesses how strict these people are. It is exciting for him, he wonders if this was how Mina was treated while rising the ranks.
Besides Leno Ichikawa, the others in their group have no idea that Kafka and Mina are technically married and are roommates. They find out that the two live together when the group runs into Mina and Bakko while training. Bakko pounces on Kafka and licks him then once he is up, Kafka asks Mina what does she want for dinner like he does whenever he drops by the base before. Oblivious to the reveal he accidentally dropped, Kafka runs ahead of the group with Leno. The two jog and discuss about last weekâs Kaiju attack when Mina jumps in and argues about a certain characteristic of the Kaiju that she thinks fits one type instead of the other. All three end up oblivious to the group they left behind.
I had @qwarq code a bestiary window for me because none of the existing plugins satisfied my needs. There's also a cookbook for Nathalia's recipes that follows the same layout.
In addition to seeing the stats and the money/exp reward for enemies, there's also flavor text for each one. Recipes have flavor text too.
The bestiary and cookbook have unique artwork for each entry, which I hope isn't going to bite me in the ass later...

Moodboard inspired by my Amortentia Series
[that it only exists in, well... my head...? lol sorry folks]
So, yes, here is yet another moodboard that has been inspired by other elements about my Amortentia Series. So here's some context for what is happening above because,âas I seem to do constantly, I am saving the good stuff for last.
+ Plunny Giveaway:
Malfoy runs an apothecary, while Hermione is a professor at Hogwarts.
The Ministry of Magic adopted the Marriage Law in order to strengthen actual magical bonds, which had the extra effect of increasing the number of healthy and magical babies in the Wizard World.
After considerable thought and monthly trips to the apothecary store over the years, Hermione decides to choose her own destiny, which includes her own husband, after confronted with this new Magical Law.
For years, she has been powerless, intrigued by this new and oddly quiet Malfoy, proprietor of this small yet exotic shop â who, despite frequently catching him glancing at her, had never spoken a nasty word to her or attempted to be even impolite towards her once their school days were over.
In fact, even so many years after the war, and despite being a redeemable if still reviled member of the Wizard Society, Draco always seemed puzzled whenever Hermione knocked on his bell door for more ingredients for her monthly Potions Class, as if Draco expected Hermione to chose to go somewhere else rather than to his shop.
But how could she when he always seemed to pay special attention to her most often used potions and add just a little bit extra of the ingredients she needed most but sometimes just forgot to order more of?
The way he delivered her order to the castle, and how he secretly added new ingredients to her order with brief "on the house" note after sensing her curiosity to experiment the new ingredients from his shop on her potions And when she didn't like the ones she bought, he never charged her for them
Hermione didn't know why he was doing all of that for her, but she was eager to finding out.
When he did it the first time, and she Flooed to his shop furiously, demanding an explanation of himâwondering whether he was doing it out of lingering remorse for her, in some attempt to gain her forgiveness... Yet her rage only caused this new Draco, as he desperately tried to explain to her and accidentally break a few potion bottles in his path as he vehemently denied everything.
Or when he once said that the way she looked at some of the herbs and Potions on his shop's shelves reminded him of his godfather's devotion to his beloved Potions, and her heart unavoidably skipped a beatâŚ
Or how, for the first time since that day, Hermione became truly conscious of the man behind that balcony shop. And how she tried, for the first time, to reconcile her memories of his younger self to the man in front of her.
Or how, after that first misunderstanding, he was far too shy to initiate a conversation with her, tripping over words and even struggling to wrap her items while trying to answer some of her questions.
And by all the gods... That was something she found terribly charming in him for some inexplicable reason...!
Hermione was observant enough to notice that while interacting with every other customer Draco seemed extremely competent, but when it came to herâhe appeared to suddenly lose all of his social skills.
She had to be honest with herself and confess that, after sometime, âshe had grown to find it quite endearing to witness her former classmate stumble like that in front of her.
Most probably she was losing her mind and was being enthralled by a mystery that she had no business being captivated by. But she didn't know why she felt so undeniably attracted to him, but Hermione was determined to give it a shot regardless of how absurd it might sound.
Her heart urged her to act, to be heard, for the first time ever, and she was incredibly determined to comply with it and the mystery that surrounded that small apothecary shop and its silent proprietor.
So when the Wizengamot's bachelor list was made public, Hermione used her never-before-used war heroine privileges to request a special favorâand then the new Minister of Magic officially informed Draco Malfoy of his new future wife.
However, they had no idea that after their marriage ceremony, their new magical bond would open a tridimensional portal in the centre of the apothecary shop in front of them,âwhich they would have to cross in order to understand that nothing in this life happens by by accident.
And, after all these years of apparent disdain for her, perhaps Hermione will learn the real reason behind Malfoy's silence.
This is a story of two people who shares a love for Potions and their affection by the memory of a friend who has long since passed away. Nothing that shines appears to be gold. And as people are constantly learning and growing from the mistakes they madeâperhaps the answers to their questions can be found in their past, which will allow them to unlock the door to their own future.
Ardynâs Kingship and Somnusâ Rulership: an Exploration of FFXV Lore and Etymology
This was not the meta I expected to be dishing out today but here we are. Buckle in folks, this might not be what canon intended, but it is indeed what just exploded from my brain.
(If itâs not clear or you have questions, please come ask me!)
FACT: Aera tells Somnus that Ardyn was to be king
FACT: Ifrit provides the same information to Ardyn
FACT: The Crystal rejects Ardyn as the one who is to be the Founder King of Lucis
Bad storytelling, or is there something more here? A common theory -one Iâve worked with myself- is that the Six are not in fact omniscient and chose Ardyn as their king without consulting the Spirit of Eos, represented by the Crystal, which either chose Somnus from the start or rejected Ardyn because of his corruption by the Starscourge and then chose Somnus as the next best thing. I tend to believe it chose Somnus from the start, because Ardyn gained that taint doing what he was supposed to be doing - curing people.
So, it could be that simple, Ardyn was the Astralâs Chosen, Somnus was Eosâ - but I would like to propose something different, and it hinges around three more facts.
FACT: Aera and Ardyn were engaged to be wed
FACT: Ardyn is Somnusâ older brother
FACT: The word âKingâ has some very interesting etymology
Letâs get nerdy, folks.
The word âKingâ comes from a contraction of the Old English word cyning meaning âking or rulerâ - the source for all this is HERE if youâre interested, but Iâll be hitting the high points - so far, this isnât a surprise. But hereâs where it gets interesting because cyning doesnât actually have clear origins. But the best guess currently is that it is at least related to cynn - another Old English word meaning âfamily or raceâ that, as you mightâve guessed, led to the modern word kin.
Now, assuming theyâre related this means one of two things might be true - that âkingâ was either "a leader of the people" or "of noble birth.â
The second of those, weâre going to discard. One, because there was no King in the area prior to Somnus founding Lucis and so it would have been... difficult for Ardyn and Somnus to be of noble birth. The first one though... a king as a leader of the people... could that be?
Thereâs a lot of Ancient Roman vibes in what little we see of Ardyn and Somnusâ era, but enough that it feels reasonable to build from that. While not of noble birth as we think of it (though likely privileged) Ardyn was the older brother. Whatever their family did have, he was set to inherit and Somnus likely would have struck out on his own.
To be more clear here: Ardyn was the next leader of House Caelum. He was born to lead the family, and Somnus was to go out and establish, not only his own lineage, but a kingdom. This would not conflict with Ardyn, however, because Ardyn was also set to marry Aera Mirus Fleuret of Tenebrae which would have gone one of two ways: either the Fleurets were established as matriarchal even then, making him the Prince Consort to her Queen - or whatever equivalent terms they had in Tenebrae for âmale married to the female rulerâ - Or. Or he would have been King, which... well, I do have theories that suggest he could have been back then. If he was King of Tenebrae, though, that would certainly put him more as Somnusâ peer than necessarily competition.
Regardless, Ardyn remains the father of a very important lineage, and not just because they are the rulers of Tenebrae. Remember, there were two tasks given by the gods: 1) create a new nation 2) cleanse the world of Starscourge.
Establishing a nation seemed to go smoothly enough for Somnus to have succeeded - how much moreso without strained relations with Tenebrae at the start? But curing a WORLD of Starscourge? Two people even in a lifetime cannot possibly manage.
But if two people of exceptional magic, capable of passing it down through blood, had children.... say they had two. And their two children had two children. Etc etc. Youâd have had over a thousand in the eighth generation, assuming no one had more than two at a time. And thatâs not accumulative - the eighth generation alone would have over a thousand people capable of healing Starscourge, a solid 500 and some change in their parents in addition. Things werenât dire until Noctisâ time as the one hundred and fourteenth.
They could have done it. Not without cost, no, but together, Ardyn and Aeraâs family could have healed the world.
To make brief acknowledgment of the attempted Biblical themes in FFXV, I think it would be closer to the truth to say that he wasnât meant to be Eosâ Jesus: he was meant to be Abraham, the father of a nation, the father of a race of healers whose descendant(s) would save mankind.
Ultimately the point is this: Ardyn Lucis Caelum was NOT the King of Lucis. He was never intended to be except possibly by misinformed Astrals. He WAS âKingâ as in the head of House Caelum, his right as firstborn. He was also âkingâ as a leader of people, his family first and foremost but likely a whole school of mages if things had gone on this more favorable route.
Ardyn was supposed to be a king, Aera had that right. But not of the nation of Lucis.
Unfortunately, no one told Somnus that, so weâre unlikely to ever see it play out.
