There's something so intimate about an "I know" from Louis when Lestat tells him how much he loves someone.
When Lestat talks to Louis about Akasha in Queen of the Damned:
When Lestat talks to Louis about Amel in Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis:
There's so much love contained in it.
The Amel arc really is so good. It may be Lestat’s most compelling relationship to me. Maybe after Gabrielle.
Lestat, who is a chasm of loneliness and abandonment issues, willingly takes in Amel, who loves him, absolutely and inarguably, and can’t leave him. He gets swaddled by the massive, emotionally unstable parasitic core of vampirism, and isn't nearly as worried as he should be. Because he was suicidal and alone and without purpose again, and now he has to get it together.
It’s a demonic possession love story.
It’s also, I think, some of Anne’s best horror writing: the Voice and mirror scenes and losing control of his limbs. It’s another terrifying round of Lestat losing bodily autonomy, and the crazy thing is that it really does fix him.
“I know what you need,” he said.
“You need one person who is always on your side. Well, I’m ready to be that one now. I don’t know why I tormented you, made you pay for asking, made you come all this way. I always knew I was going to come. Maybe I thought you’d lose interest because I never really understood why you wanted me in the first place. But you’re not losing interest, not even with the whole Court, and so I’ll come. And when you tire of me and want me gone, I’ll hate you, of course.”

Imagine Benedict shaving his tonsure back whenever he's mad at Rosh.
