Lanzado el 21 de octubre de 1999, "Platinum" es el quinto single de Maaya Sakamoto y tercer Opening de "CARDCAPTOR Sakura" convirtiéndose en el tercer trabajo de Maaya Sakamoto en estar vinculado a CLAMP.

Los arreglos, composición y producción del single estuvieron a cargo de Yoko Kanno.

"Platinum" logró posicionarse en el vigésimo primer lugar del ranking Oricon y tras su éxito obtuvo la certificación de Disco de Oro por parte de la RIAJ (Recording Industry Association of Japan).

En 2019, tras la campaña "Heisei ANISON Awards" realizada por SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT ,"Platinum" ganó como "Mejor canción de Seiyuu entre los años 1989-1999".

A la fecha "Platinum" cuenta con más de 15 covers.
