In 500,000,000 AD, the time traveling alien known as the Doctor (Doctor 9) takes his new companion Rose Tyler on her first trip both in time and space to Platform One to watch the Earth be consumed by the sun (the date of Earth’s destruction had been pushed back by artificial means). Rose is overwhelmed by the various alien species including people that are part tree and a giant head known as the Face of Boe. Not only does Rose begin to be concerned that she is traveling through time and space with someone who is basically a stranger to her, someone is messing with the safeties on Platform One putting everyone’s life at risk. What started out as a viewing of the end of Earth quickly started turning into the end of Platform One as well. ("The End of the World" Doctor Who, TV)
