why would i ever want those characters to have normal sex. when they could have grievous injurious incestuous guilt-ridden abusive power-imbalanced horrible dubiously consensual sex that ruins them and makes them worse?

I think we have to accept that there is such a thing, especially in horror media, as a load bearing problematic ship. Yes, it's incest/age gap/abusive/manipulative , and its so important to the plot that trying to remove it destroys the whole thing.
