It was promised and now it is here! I mentioned this in my Hermes post (link below) but this time I’m looking at unexplored powers for children our favourite quirky rainbow goddess, Iris! Basically I just think she’s fun and minor gods need some more love so here are my ideas for the powers of cabin 14, aside from knowledge of organic food ofc.
Starting off classic with photokinesis; her kids can create rainbows as they please, in some fun shapes as well. They can also change the colour of light to an extent, and fires too. When the Iris kids have had an argument, you can always tell as the campfire will be flashing between colours like a full-on laser disco. I bet they all argue over what colour to have the lighting inside the cabin too; it’s nothing uncommon to hear cabin 14 screaming over whether the lights should be blue or pink.
Through their control over rainbows, Iris’ demigods can induce brief periods of blindness in enemies through directing light into their eyes. They can also create weak illusions. The Iris and Apollo kids sometimes work together to create small projections for the camp to enjoy at night.
Some of cabin 14 are incredibly perceptive to relationships and even have an understanding of important conversations and messages (kinda like eavesdropping), even though they weren’t present for said conversation. This is ofc because Iris is a messenger goddess and is responsible for IMs.
Iris kid: So how did it go with Michael? Did you make up?
Random camper: Yeah, we’re good now. How did you know about that? Were you listening in again?
Iris kid: I just had a feeling...
Also they can IM at any time without payment ofc.
Finally this one isn’t as much as a power than a special quirk; it’s incredibly common for Iris’ kids to have some form of synesthesia. They may see letters as colours or smell sounds. (I don’t have this condition myself so I hope this is a good example)
Soooo yeah that basically sums it up for now. I’d love to do some more unexplored powers soon so for now I’ll see you in the next one! I’m thinking Athena kids never get presented with much power? Or maybe Tyche (goddess of luck and fortune) or Hebe (goddess of youth and forgiveness). Idk but whatever I try next I’ll catch you then x
