"you look... not great." the word she wanted to say was 'awful,' but she knew better than to get on trinity's nerves. while they've joked around in the past few months, it wasn't exactly clear to her if they were friends. victoria personally didn't see it that way just yet and she doubts her hotheaded colleague thought any differently. but they did get along for the most part; that was good enough for her. "don't think i look so great either at this point, though. extracting that hair clamp from that lady's scalp might make me swear off using the accessory for good."

Mel feels so stupid. She tried to 'get herself out there', following social media advice from people who don't know her nor her lack of understanding of certain clues that comes from having a dating history, and the result is that she has had to leave her bag behind, with her money and ID in it, has no way home, and that guy is scary enough that she can't risk going back to get it. Her phone battery is also almost gone, and if she calls the police over a gut feeling to get her things back now, she'll get laughed off and left with no ride. So she calls Trinity. A few words 'I went on a blind date and I felt so unsafe I had to run outside and now I'm stranded, can I send you my location?' and her new friend is on it.

Problem is, her new friend is trapped in the ER, and when she promises help is on the way, the last thing Mel expects is to see dr. Garcia pull up less than five minutes later. She doesn't know if she wants to laugh or cry.

emma, surprisingly, got a full eight hours of sleep the previous night. made herself a quick sandwich for dinner the minute she got home and finished it almost just as quickly, padded to the bathroom for a less quick shower, and promptly fell asleep with her hair still damp. but clearly her relaxing night didn't make her look all that rejuvenated now. ( the hospital will age you, as her mother would say. you should've become a corporate nurse ). "i slept great last night," emma settles on after a beat. it was true. "this shift has just been really busy, but i'm holding up alright."

cassie looks up from the paper chart. a small smile tips the thoughtful downturn of her lips the other direction.

" a little. " a shrug, the clipboard clattering aside to the counter.

She sat up quickly from her couch; she'd been dozing off when she heard a tap. Then another. There were three more taps before she furrowed her brows and lifted the blanket off of her. She'd been so tired before she hadn't even managed to get into her bed. Igraine rubbed the sleep from her eyes when she opened up the sliding glass door to the balcony and leaned over. "Trinity?"

"Hey crazy, if you break it you buy it!" she called down with a laugh. "Do you want to come up for dinner?"

"Really, think about it. We live on an irregular shaped rock in space with water and oxygen, we're spinning and then that's spinning around another point and we're hurdling through space," Igraine had been watching the discovery channel again and after being on another twenty-four hour shift she was exhausted and that led to thoughts.

Life. Was it meaningless? "What we do is the butterfly effect, right? But at the same time...life finds a way and all that mumbo jumbo."
