#pit stop asks

It honestly took everything out of me, but it’s the piece I’m currently most proud of in terms of story and how I structured it. Although... the amount of times I had to rewrite some scenes is actually stupid.

One thing I don’t usually like doing is explaining my writing because I firmly believe stories should become whatever you, the reader, need them to be in the moment you read them. Plus, once I press that POST button, it’s not entirely mine anymore.

But. Since you mentioned Oscar being the good guy (he is, without a doubt), I just wanted to touch on something that was really important to me while writing it: I never viewed Lando as the bad guy either. He was flawed, but not malicious.

By the time everything fell apart, he’d become so accustomed to having her beside him that he unconsciously began taking the relationship for granted. He didn’t love her less, but somewhere in that looong time they were together, he stopped realizing how much maintenance love actually requires sometimes. Especially with a life like his. So when everything imploded, his first reaction wasn’t to fight. He simply went numb because he couldn’t process the magnitude of what had happened yet. Also, walking away wasn’t indifference on his part, he was just in shock. He needed distance before he could understand the wreckage and the fact that he, just as she accused him, had a major role in bringing their relationship to that point.

I agree with this specific ask; Lando has a lot more to say. The tragedy is that he ultimately did understand where he failed her, but there was no battlefield left to return to. Well, not after what he heard on that balcony 👀 That’s why, I think, for so many people his story feels unfinished in a way that hers or Oscar’s doesn’t.

There are conversations that never happened and thoughts that he never got to voice and, as for a part 2, you’re not the only one asking for a continuation:

I see all of you, always. And I’m sorry for the hundreds of requests I’ll probably get to, sometime in the next decade if I’m lucky 😔🤞🏻

Now, I’m about 73% sure there will be a part 2. I’ve made some notes and I know exactly how I would like to go about it. At the moment, however, I have about... six, I think, fics that are waiting for me to either finish or edit or both. So it will take a second, okay :,)
