Luffy's been attached to him for what felt like hours. And though it pained him to admit any sort of discomfort or weakness (especially to his captain)...it was getting hard to breathe with those rubbery arms wrapped around his torso. Absently, Zoro realized he would have had a much more restful nap sans Captain if he had only stayed in the crow's nest. But it was no point in thinking like that now... The situation at hand wasn't ideal but it wasn't uncommon either. He could wait this out.
Zoro had never managed to escape those long appendages despite how obvious Luffy's approach usually were. His captain had all the subtlety of a charging rhinoceros at the best of times and when it came to spending time with his nakama... Luffy had none at all. The swordsman had learned quite early on to just let Luffy have his way. Indulge the goofball and he'll be off once more - darting off to harass some other hapless soul on the ship. Sooner or later, Luffy'll have to let go. Just a little patience...
But he really missed breathing fully.
And his back ached - damn it. Try as he might, it was no use ignoring it. The longer he laid there, immobile under Luffy's weight, the more relaxed (and heavier) the other pirate got. His captain was completely unaware of this, of course. With his face firmly planted into his stomach and that bright straw hat shielding what little he could see, Luffy was in his own little world.
He could easily sit up, push the boy off him and disentangle himself from those blasted rubber noodle arms! But... Luffy looked so comfortable where he was, legs akimbo yet managing to look so small, the swordsman hesitated in rousing him. However, one particularly painful squeeze had Zoro reconsidering, "Oi, oi, baka! What the hell are you tryin' to do here?"
"Sorry, Zoro." But the smaller boy didn't make any move to right himself. In fact, the raven-haired rubbery ass pulled himself even further into his lap. Zoro watched with a sense of dread and exasperation as Luffy's sandal-clad feet dug for purchase against the wooden floorboards, propelling himself into Zoro. It wasn't until a headbutt and some awkward wiggling later, Luffy was settled - going so far as to press his nose against his collarbone. When the sensation of his breath fanning across his bare skin caused him to flinch, a sharp pinch somewhere - just where the hell were his hands?! - forced a yelp out of him. "Mrrhfhmm! Stay still!"
"I'm not your bedroll, you idiot." But he did comply, if only to avoid those ridiculously painful pincers of his.
"Don't care." Came the mumbled reply. At this angle, Zoro could pick out the faint smudges of soot down the lines of Luffy's neck, barely noticeable as if someone (probably Usopp) had wiped at it frantically, and the smell of something explosive. So he wasn't the first one Luffy paid a visit to today.Â
Tch. So Usopp and Franky managed to oust him and the hyperactive rubber came to bug him then? He was suddenly irrationally irritated. It was so damn stupid but - "I wanna stay with Zoro today."
"Y-You're a damn brat, Luffy."
He supposed his back could take a little longer...
