Β Β Β Sometimes it was nice not having to say anything, content to simply share a space with her best friend. While Yukiko could be talkative when the mood struck, social situations often left her drained after a while, and with long days working at the inn it was really pleasant to just spend time with Chie and relax. Gentle rain pattered across the roof of the old inn, dripping off the eaves past her window in an almost lazy fashion. The world beyond was quiet save for the occasional peal of birdsong, and the distant plonkΒ of the shishi-odoshi in the garden.Β

Β Β Β Startled, Yukiko looked up from the book she was reading, dark eyes fixing on her friend with a curious, piercing sort of stare. Most of the time it was Yukiko who shattered the serenity of the moment with one of her giggle fits, not Chie. But curiosity got the better of her in the end, and after marking her place, Yukiko turned to look at the other girl, a faint smile gracing her lips.
