Pinnipoids!!

As you guessed it. Yes! Weird-looking seal people across the clade! Seeing them in forms of seals, sea lions, and walruses!

Been drawing these guys a lot lately, and yes you can tell the Salmon Run inspiration (Along with Selkie folklore inspo for the designs, a bit). First started as a Splat AU of "What if there's surviving mammals like these guys" but went "Nah, they're gonna be in my weird little verse/species kind of thing"

"Hello again! This is the Dirth Anthropology Study Society again! Today, we learned about the Pinnipoids on how food plays an important role for them! It's very different for each clan:

"The war clan prefer their meals meatier and big to feed a warrior. Their ideal was eating as much more protein makes them stronger, whether its raw or cooked. That's why the younglings are given heavier meals to aid their growth."

"Those who align themselves in intellect and technological advancement likes to modify their meals, either to improve their taste or make taste a certain way to feed more mouths and assist picky eaters. They sought to improve the quality of food in fisheries."

"The scavenger's tend to eat what was leftover, in belief that no meal or hunted scrap should be left wasted. They play an important of eating leftovers from other sects."

"The clan of festivities enjoy putting as much spices, sauces, and various of yummy ingredients in their food to make them tastier and look appealing to savor. They believe that a meal should look good and appetizing to consume."

"Lastly is the hunting clan, who normally just hunt and fish while tending the crops. While this is considered a ‘basic’ sect in terms of cooking, they carefully combine their ingredients from the fish they hunt and the crops they harvested to make a hearty meal. They treat this not only as a skill but an artform; it's their way to mark their successful gathering of resources and feeding their community. Even if the most ‘basic’ they're considered the most important clan due to being spiritually closer to nature and their old tradition of fishing and farming. Without the hunting clan, the entirety of Pinnipoid society will collapse."
