washed up magician Quentin shows up in Beach City while traveling around, stays there long enough that my gem self ends up crossing paths with him and he's completely new to the whole gem thing as it hasn't spread too far into the world just yet and he's very curious and confused about how the whole gem thing functions and all.

but my gem self is like really fascinated by his earth magic and his way of presenting himself when he's showing it off. and it leads to a 1 person audience (it's me) show and he teaches me his magic tricks and I improvise with gem magic and make it even better. he wants to have me as his assistant and join him in his work.

Choco Pearl would be reading a comic and being like "I like this funny little man." and then that washed up magician, Quentin shows up and she'd just just be pointing and losing it cuz he looks so much like that funny little magic comic book man she read about.

also this is the old thing I actually wanted to revisit, but I ended up falling way more in love with the Pearl instead:

initial concept: belongs to White Diamond, was given purpose by White Diamond. without White, she has no clue what to do or what her purpose is. She is defective, but it's ok, White helped, she's happier and better now :)
