It’s reasonable that Sans wouldn’t have inherited the full power of his mother’s, so the swirling pattern would appear less closer to that of an eye. Oh my god, I love the idea of the marks glowing Sans’s soul trait as he uses it. Now I’m wondering, would the ability be kinda like a goo? Flexible, easily manipulated and great with short or mid range.
The swirls could be powered by his soul trait. Imagine it glowing red when Whisk uses moray magic. Maybe the marking has a sort of mind of its own too— being able to detach into segments and mend itself back at will.
After this discovery, I might just scratch out the idea of Sans summoning bones as an attack at all because it’s too OP for him. Headcanon? Nah, I’m loving this concept, so now it is canon.
Now I’m just imagining Sans swinging from building to building like Spiderman 💀 or or or the goo forming into a clump on his arm like Venom.
