Announcing the Winners of the D16 Phoscyon Challenge on Blend
Blend artists brought back fond memories of the acid house/techno days with their entries in the D16 Phoscyon challenge. There were so many impressive entries that D16 agreed to add a third prize to the pool. Here are the standout tracks.
When I Was Younger by Menty Deluxe
Acid bass, trance leads and a techno beat -- this one has classic written all over it. Especially worth noting are the layered bass harmonies, vocal samples and epic 8 minute arrangement. Menty Deluxe will be taking home licenses for D16's Phoscyon and Devastor plugins.
Jay Brand Russell - Workout by Jay Brand Russell
Jay's simple but expertly crafted approach to this raw tech house track shines through his custom preset design and unique bass groove. Jay will be receiving a full license for Phoscyon.
Phoscyon-Work Project by liko
liko's track has more of a breakbeat style with clever drum programming and white noise effects. Things get very interesting in the second half when the acid line repeatedly transitions from bass to lead frequencies. liko will be receiving a full license for Phoscyon as well!
