Oh hey btw, piece of useful advice that a friend has given me. If you too are struggling with unhooking from the terrible predicament of doomscrolling 6hrs a day, and blocking apps doesn't work because you can just unlock them, here's what's been kind of working for me: screenzen.
It's an app that allows you to pick certain apps (or parts of them, like insta reels) and put a timer on them before you can open them. This way, if I impulsively pick up my phone to scroll, I have to wait like 20 seconds before I can choose to open the app, and I've found that more than half of the time I'm like "wait no that's not what I want to do right now" and moved on. I don't know the precise science but I'm guessing it's something like instant dopamine hit denied > immediate disinterest in opening the app.
What also helps is that I technically CAN still open the app, I just gotta wait 20 seconds. So I'm not like battling the defiance to the limits I set for myself as much XD and even if I do choose to open the app with the idea of doomscrolling, I can choose to make it close after like... 10 minutes, and then I have to wait another 20 seconds to open it again and it's usually enough to snap me out of it.
Really recommend this, I am starting to even just click on the app icons a lot less because I know I don't get the instant gratification as fast as usual. And I can like. Do other stuff instead! Hope this finds someone who might need it xx
