Fated to be executed by Odysseus for treason, alliances with suitors, and betrayal of the royal household.

KLEARETE OF ZACYNTHUS

Spirit Animal: Lizard

Personality: Stoic mask, manipulative, calculating, power-hungry

Klearete is the daughter of Hyppomachus of Zacynthus, one of the oldest and most ruthless suitors of Penelope. Like her spiritual animal—the lizard—she survives by hiding behind a perfectly still mask, watching, waiting, striking only when necessary.

Hyppomachus was a cruel, misogynistic nobleman, cursed by the ghost of the brother he murdered to gain his title. The curse? He would never father a male heir.

In ancient Greece, the father decided whether the newborn was “worthy” of living. Hyppomachus rejected six daughters in a row… until the seventh child was born. Klearete.

She survived only because she was an exact copy of her father—same eyes, same cold stare. She flattered his ego so deeply that he spared her life.

Growing up, Klearete understood very early that her value was conditional: if a son were to be born, she could be discarded just as her mother was. When a favored maid fell pregnant and promised Hyppomachus a boy, he repudiated Klearete’s mother, in a blink of an eye. Klearete was forced to pretend she didn’t know or care, though she loved her mother deeply.

(If you’re asking, yes, Klearete’s mother committed suicide after this)

When the maid gave birth to yet another girl and begged for the infant’s life, Hyppomachus spared the newborn only because her pathetic pleading inflated his ego.

But when the maid became pregnant again, Klearete acted.

She murdered her.

And after that, any woman who carried Hyppomachus’s child would meet the same fate.

Hyppomachus eventually discovered the pattern—but far from punishing her, he was proud. She was exactly like him: ruthless, ambitious, willing to kill for power. The daughter of a murderer who became one herself.

When Hyppomachus joined the suitors in Ithaca, Klearete followed him, for alliance he sold her to the palace as a maid. Power was the only thing she worshipped—and she would do anything to possess it.

PHILOMACHE OF DULICHIUM

Spirit Animal: Swan

Personality: Vain, spoiled, egocentric, desperate for status but emotionally hollow

Philomache is the younger sister of Agerochus of Dulichium, another suitor of Penelope. Though beautiful and graceful like a swan, her ego is immense and fragile.

She comes from a once-noble family ruined by her father’s addiction to gambling. After their father fled his debts, a devoted but broken mother and a ten-year-old Agerochus were left alone to rebuild their status.

Agerochus worked like a slave from childhood—exhausting himself so completely that he developed poliosis, white streaks in his hair from stress.

Philomache, meanwhile, refused to lift a finger.

If she no longer had noble status, then beauty was the only thing she believed she had left. And she clung to it viciously.

She spent money they didn’t have, sought attention they couldn’t afford, and lived in a fantasy where she was always the center of the world.

To her, it was better to be admired and envied than good or useful.

Desperate to teach his sister humility—and to form polite alliances among nobles—Agerochus sold her as a maid to Penelope, which was common practice (for Greek/nobles in general).

Philomache refuses to learn the lesson, even if she’s now a maid at the palace.

“I am beautiful. Beautiful people don’t work. I only need to be admired and everything will come to me.”

She is entirely capable of cruelty, but it comes from emptiness: a girl who believes that if she isn’t adored, she is nothing.

CHLORIS OF ITHACA

Spirit Animal: Goose

Personality: Sweet, naive, deeply impressionable, easily manipulated, desperate to belong

Chloris comes from a large, traditional farming family. Hardworking, loving—but poor and uneducated. She grew up hearing she was “slow,” “simple,” or “not very bright,” and eventually believed it herself.

Because she thinks she has no personality of her own, she survives by attaching herself to stronger personalities.

People who tell her who she is.

People who tell her what to do.

People who give her the smallest crumb of affection.

That is how she fell under the influence of Klearete and Philomache.

She often forgets her chores, daydreams, gets distracted by gossip or flirtation, and has been labeled “easy” because she seeks affection anywhere she can find it. The shame hurts, but the fear of being alone hurts more.

She wants to belong—to anyone, anywhere—even if it leads her down the wrong path.

And with Klearete and Philomache guiding her, it inevitably does.

The Prequel

Hiii!

This is the “base” for the comic that will be posted tomorrow!

I’ve used @messymoonmad ‘s evil maids design in the second page to interact with Cerberus!

I’ve just realize… that my evil maids don’t have a suitor to be paired with…

Cause the 12 maids who betrayed the household, slept and conspire with the suitors..(my good one don’t conspire- only difference ig?- it was common practice that the maids/servants could be “used” by guests)

I think I have to make other 3 suitors?

Because:

Klearete can suit with Clytius, it’s a cool dynamic, and her dominant and violent personality works with what Clytius search, but for Klearete, he’s Too clever, he could be a threat.

Pisander doesn’t like Philomache at all, unlike her, so he’d never get paired with her.

She would need a man as pretty and as bland who in a way “matches her freaks”
