" À l’invitation des Éditions Matière, les artistes Alexandre Contesse et Alex Besikian exposent et confrontent les dessins que chacun d’eux a développé à partir du roman Ubik de Philip K. Dick. Architecte de formation, Alexandre Contesse a choisi de restituer les lieux d’Ubik — projections mentales bien plus qu’espaces tangibles, lieux souvent inhospitaliers, parfois inventés de toutes pièces par des esprits convaincus d’exister, d’« être là » —, à commencer par le conapt, l’appartement du principal protagoniste du roman, Joe Chip. De son côté, le plasticien et musicien Alex Besikian a choisi de mettre en scène quelques-uns des objets du roman qui vieillissent et régressent : différents modèles de voitures, un annuaire, des cigarettes… Dans cette série de dessins et collages, les vides d’une composition se matérialisent dans les compositions qui suivent, telles des âmes s’efforçant d’éterniser leur « demie-vie » en errant d’un support à un autre.
