Phan <-> Lumi: ok lemme just explain myself cuz they really dont like each other much in canon aside from some like brief moments of lol we get each other even if i hate you B U T those little moments? The implications? There is much there and id have to write a standalone thing but the gist of my interpretation/hope is? Lumi can kind of tell that phan is really hiding something/lying about his bravado and doesnt know how to address it, so he just gets frustrated at phans bullshit while being too scared of confrontation/awkwardness to actually call it out. The hope part is his hope that maybe he can find a moment to finally get phan to be genuine for half a second beyond when hes angry. Phan knows lumis too smart to entirely fall for his thing, but hes not just gonna lower his mask cuz someone can tell its a fucking mask. He keeps egging him on in the hope that it makes lumi so mad at him that he loses interest and leaves him alone, and is just more and more frustrated that he has like...any patience. I feel that at their cores, they do really care about each other, but the way they are is keeping them from expressing that at All so they both just jab at each other, mutually frustrated that they cant be genuine.

This is part of why i hate hom actually!!! That fight scene? Lumi would never be so fucking fast to be like “lol we didnt finish our fight from last time” or repeatedly call phantom petty????? He would never fucking say phantoms revenge was petty even if he disapproved?????????????? Phantom is literally the only person that lumi is ever snarky with/cold to and its only because phantoms hostile first?????????????????????????????? Lumis like generally a really way fuckin nice person but fanon treats him like an asshole because phantoms a jerk??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
