fanfiction petpeeve: when writers get the eyecolors of characters wrong. For example i used to read quite some Once upon a time fanfiction where sometimes Emma Swans eyes were described as hazel???
Are the hazel eyes in the room with us???? Please! Here eyes are very clearly green!! Many more of such examples exist.
What’s something you wish more brands would stop doing?
The never ending pile of problems
It’s pet peeve time again and today, I want to talk about rhythm. Rhythm is important in a story. As the writer, you need to be able to strike a balance between action scenes and slower-paced interludes. Of course, key plot scenes are often more interesting and will keep the audience entertained. This leads to the dangerous tendency of going from one sub-plot to the next without ever stopping in…
The thesaurus paradox of "Show, don't tell"
Most of the pet peeves I’ve mentioned until now were tropes or plot devices. Today’s will be a little different. As a writer, it’ll come as no surprise that I am following an assortment of writing advice blogs and Facebook groups. In these groups, people will sometimes post something and ask for the community’s opinion on the piece. This is where I discovered one of my biggest style pet…

These are 3 things that blow my mind
Name your top three pet peeves. We all have those little things that get under our skin—those minor annoyances that, while seemingly insignificant to others, have the uncanny ability to disrupt our peace. Pet peeves, though often trivial, are a fascinating glimpse into our personal preferences and tolerances. Whether it’s a common grievance or something unique to your personality, naming your…
Just taking a sec to send some hate to this type of trash can. Don't you just love shoving your hand into the trash after washing them? No? You might say it defeats the purpose of washing your hands? Interesting. Just use an open trash can. Some might say that this is unsightly, having the trash mildly visible in its designated container, but you know what's more unsightly? Having a little mound of paper towels stuck in the can because people keep trying to dodge the lid hitting their hand. Some cans have a little mechanism that opens the lid for you, but these are prone to breaking due to the increase in moving parts. Just use an open trash can. Do whatever you want in your home (whether or not I judge you for having one of these shouldn't matter to you) but I'm sick of seeing these in public spaces.
Poll totally not related to commission woes I've personally had
ARTISTS! What do you hate to see/not see in your commissioner's ref sheets?
Shading on a ref sheet
Texture/shading on a color guide
No open mouths (for characters with unique mouths)
A detail that is no longer relevant/has changed
Covered markings/scars/details not elaborated further
Face too small to notice details/eye color/particular shapes
ref sheet does not match the character entirely and has no additional notes
Color guide with a million colors without proper labeling
All of the above or multiple
Other: Comment!
Have not encountered any of these
Please spread this for research and for things for myself to keep in mind when designing ref sheets!
