An artist I found inspiration from is Peter Doig, in particular an exhibition that was shown in the Michael Werner art gallery in New York in 2017, in which most works are on paper. I liked his use of charcoal and how he added colour to these figurative drawings.

Here is a link to all the pieces shown in the exhibition I mentioned. In particular I favoured this piece called "Spearfishing" 2015, in which he uses charcoal and pigment on paper. He distorts the paper using rabbit glue, which reminded me of how my paper looked during the surface making workshop.
The distortion in the paper reflects the subject matter of a man spearfishing in shallow water. The pigment is washed over the paper and drips down creating a 'wet look' which I found very interesting.
