Yeah, one day Jasper meets Peter, who leaves such an impression on him, that he, for the first time (???) defies Maria? Oh, I bet, he had a life-changing crash, even if Peter didn't reciprocate his feelings. And then Jasper saves his life again when they try to escape; and Peter comes back for him to help him to move on from being constantly depressed, even if it was risky for his life??? Comradery, my ass, their situationship is longer than some marriages π
(sorry it's taken so long to respond)
I love this all so much!!!
In my mind, there is no way their relationship isn't/wasn't gay at any point. We know that Maria hated mates canonically, but sex? She probably did, but may have let Jasper off since he was her right hand. With that, it's likely that Jasper would have managed to not only keep Peter alive, but to still be allowed to sleep together if that was what was happening.
And Peter being able to help Jasper so much? That was a close ass bond. Jasper was in some deep shit in his brain, we know this. Peter (and Charlotte ofc, I have to give my girl some credit) was able to help him get out of that to the point that he was able to go off on his own without completely fucking everything up in his life. Jasper was in a semi decent place mentally when he met Alice, and that was because of Peter (and Charlotte).
That first impression is also such an important thing for me, because yes, ok, I don't think it was mentioned, but I think that it had to be important in that sort of atmosphere. They wouldn't have had that much time together, so clearly there was some sort of impression left on them both from the other.
Maybe they were each other's gay awakenings? Maybe they had sex? Maybe they didn't? Maybe that just helped make the relationship stronger? All of those ideas work in my mind.
