I really like to think that Shaun kept Pete aswell after finding out where he was after Z day. Even though he was probably pretty mad about Pete killing Ed, Shaun's still been friends with him since university as far as we know, so its fun to think that Shaun just keeps Pete up in his old bedroom because Pete gets angry if he's kept anywhere near Ed.

Peter is great, a genuinely funny guy, and he even looks a bit like Rik Myall who was cast for Peeves in the films. It's such a shame Rik was cut, but it's yet more proof of why TV is a better format for these stories- fun side characters like Peeves will get their moments to shine.
