Large, recycled metal sculpture known as the Iron Man stage puppet, located in the Black Swan Courtyard of the Newcastle Arts Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Artist unknown.
It was originally in a musical production of the book The Iron Man by The Who guitarist Pete Townshend.
Built in 1993, it has been a resident in the courtyard for over 20 years, becoming a popular tourist attraction.
The puppet stands approximately 20 meters (66 ft) tall.
It's also a regular nesting site for local birds.

Happy 80th, Pete Townshend.

according to pete townsend the secret to success for any great pop group is a gay manager!
i think we can extend this concept beyond just pop groups tho as andy warhol, malcolm mclaren, andrew loog oldham, and danny fields fit the gay/bisexual manager trope while being the managers of unconventional rock groups (the velvet underground, sex pistols, the rolling stones, and the stooges + ramones respectively)
