Snail update 3
In the past 3 months since I last talked about my pet snails, not a lot has happened since, y'know, they're snails. But enough has happened that I feel like updating my blog. So in no particular order:
My dad brought home some actual terrarium boxes for me!! Hooray! I've been using a box I already had that works alright, except it doesn't have a lid anymore (I've been taping a pane of glass over the top), which is VERY bad since my snails love escape attempts. Plus, with the new addition mentioned below, it's getting a little crowded, so I can keep Quasar and Pulsar in one and put Gravastar and the new snail in the other, with my old box in case anything crazy happens again. The new terrariums are a bit smaller than my current one but that won't matter if there's only two in each, and they'll fit better at the back of my desk. Thanks dad!! :)
I have picked up my fourth snail. While I would have loved to continue the naming scheme of Pulsar, Quasar, and Gravastar, I couldn't find anything close enough that I was happy with, so the new guy has been deemed Supermassive Black Hole. I got them for the same reason as Pulsar; I found them on the sidewalk in a common gastropod death zone and brought them along for a ride. I didn't really MEAN to keep them, just feed and release 'em in the backyard, but their really sick shell pattern and body color captivated me.
Pics of Supermassive and additional update below cut :]
Hi!!!!!!! I don’t keep pet snails but I made friends with this little guy on a walk- he was super friendly <3 i get a lot of these snails, don’t know what kind they are but they’re sooo cute. I found your blog by searching up what rasping was, glad to know she wasnt biting me lmaooo. Snails r so cool I love the little critters and I love your blog, yippee for well informed unusual pet care!!!!!
Hello!!!!! Omfg they're so cute 😭 They look like a species of Cepaea to me, maybe hortensis? Absolutely adorable either way! The rasping can definitely feel kinda funky lol, its like a tiny cat is licking you with their spiky wee tongue hehe.
Thank you so much for your kind words, and for showing me this little sweetie! You are so lovely ❤️❤️❤️ I hope you have a wonderful day!
Nightpine can be scary even as a snail. 🥲
Girl was just standing on the edge and glaring at me for like 10 minutes 🙏
