In order to defend themselves from social punishment in these circumstances, some people oversimplify everything.

Sometimes it's deliberate, but mostly it's reflexive. War, identity, oppression, and history get flattened in their minds until the world they perceive fits inside a meme, a slogan, or a false binary which is easy to remember, emotionally resonant, and socially rewarded.

Meanwhile, in reality:

The world is messy and nobody is in charge

People are often contradictory and always more than one thing

History is long, complex, difficult to grasp, and gets more distorted with each attempt to flatten it

Personal brand colors (for your outfits, makeup, nails, socials, office supplies/decor, etc.)

Signature aesthetic choices (could you be identified as the woman always in a leather jacket, wearing red lipstick, always wearing crystal hair clips or full ear stacks, etc.)

omg i love this question so much! finding your signature elements is literally one of the most fun parts of building your personal aesthetic. it's like creating your own character design for the main character (you!).

i spent years feeling like i was just collecting random pretty things without any real cohesion. then i realized that having intentional signatures makes you memorable and gives you this sense of identity that feels so grounding. so here's my process for finding yours!

this one's actually more intuitive than people make it seem! start by noticing:

what color do you naturally gravitate toward when shopping?

which color consistently makes you feel confident when you wear it?

what color are most of your favorite items already?

which color feels like "you" even if you can't explain why?

for me it's a specific shade of light pink (surprise surprise). i noticed i kept buying everything in this color without even realizing it. your signature doesn't have to be just one color though! it could be a palette of 2-3 colors that work together.

pro tip: once you find it, add little touches of your color everywhere - phone case, water bottle, bookmarks. it creates this subtle cohesion in your life that feels so satisfying.

this one is so powerful because scent ties directly to memory! people will literally think of you when they smell your signature scent elsewhere.

get sample sizes before committing (i wasted so much money before learning this)

wear a potential signature for at least a week straight

notice which one you keep reaching for without thinking

consider different concentrations (perfume, lotion, hair mist) for layering

my signature is a vanilla sandalwood that's slightly sweet but not too young feeling. i have it in everything from perfume to hand cream so the scent follows me subtly.

the key with signature jewelry is choosing pieces you can wear literally every day without getting tired of them:

what pieces do you feel naked without?

which ones go with everything you wear?

what has personal meaning beyond just looking pretty?

i have these tiny star earrings i never take out and a delicate chain bracelet with my initial. they're subtle enough to go with everything but still distinctly "me."

there are so many other fun signatures you can develop:

a signature nail color or style

a signature accessory (headband, hair clip, specific bag)

a signature drink order (baristas at my local café start making mine when i walk in)

a signature makeup look (for me it's barely-there makeup with winged liner, or douyin makeup)

a signature phrase or greeting

the best signatures evolve naturally and feel effortless. if you're forcing it, it's probably not right for you! and remember signatures can evolve as you do - mine have shifted slightly over the years while still maintaining their essence.

☾ Finally, the world is starting to embrace a little more color, so whether you want to add a new color to your spring wardrobe, change up a bit the aesthetic of your feed or craft the visual brand of something you are going to release, there is a fitting color for every sign.

FUCHSIA: ♈︎ | ♉︎ | ♊︎ | ♌︎ | ♎︎ | ♐︎ | ♒︎

Pink is always a good color for Taurus and Libra placements, regardless of its hue and intensity. Even though pink isn't always the go-to color for Aries placements, fuchsia, as a very strong and intense color, fits the ram perfectly. Gemini and Aquarius placements can gladly play with this color, as it's not the most usual and easy to style and work with, while Leo and Sagittarius placements like various strong and intense shades, so this intense pink is perfect for them.

LIME: ♉︎ | ♊︎ | ♒︎

Green is always a good match for Taurus placements. Lime is quite difficult to style and incorporate together with other colors, so it's not very common, which makes it perfect for Gemini and Aquarius placements.

KLEIN BLUE: ♋︎ | ♍︎ | ♏︎ | ♑︎ | ♓︎

The water placements - Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces, can never go wrong with any shade of blue, this one included; and since it's an intense shade, it fits even the intense Scorpionic nature. Even though Virgo and Capricorn prefer more neutral shades, blue is easily paired with other colors and doesn't stand out too much, so for those that are bored of the neutrals, this can be a nice pop of color without it being too much.

Cancer and Virgo placement can always benefit from a white shade, this shade appears softer than regular pure white which makes it suitable for Libra and Pisces placements as well. Even though Capricorn placements usually stick to darker colors, they can use this shade to add something lighter to their palette.

TOMATO: ♈︎ | ♌︎ | ♐︎

This red shade is ideal for all the fire placements, regardless of whether you have Aries, Leo or Sagittarius placements.

EMERALD: ♉︎ | ♋︎ | ♍︎ | ♑︎

Emerald is a great shade for both Taurus and Cancer placements. It's also suitable for Virgo placements that want a little something to stand out among the low-key neutrals they usually stick to. When paired with a more subtle neutral shade, it can suit Capricorn placements exceptionally well.

As a bright and fun color, Citrus Yellow is perfect for Gemini, Leo and Sagittarius placements. It is a bit more tricky and uncommon compared to other colors, which is also ideal for the Aquarius placements, which like standing out.

Royal-looking dark purple shades are always a perfect match for Leo and Sagittarius placements. Even though it's a darker color, it also suits Libra quite well. Deep jewel tones like this one are also very suitable to Scorpio and Capricorn placements.

Pink will always be Taurus and Libra placements signature color. Soft pink is also ideal for Cancer, Virgo and Pisces placements.

i always appreciated her personal brand — consistency, visual story telling and everything. but yk it's moments like these where you see photos of random influencers and all the comments are like "oh Alexandra Saint Mleux vibes".

it's not even same dresses, the pose? well not like alex invented it — many influencers strike that post — but it’s just the moment you see this picture your brain immediately recognize Alexandra's brand. And before people argue, the reason ppl immediately go ASM is not because this particular influencer looks like her — I mean she's js another brunette js like alex — but because everything about this photo scream Alexandra's brand.

ofc it was most likely unintentionally but the way alex has built her personal brand — without any external help ig — now sm so ppl can recognize it anywhere and it's genuinely so impressive and inspiring to me.

People don’t follow logos or scripts; they follow humans.

Stop over-polishing and just be real.
