Design and Artistry
This highly collectible vanity piece is a collaborative masterwork of Art Deco industrial packaging design:
The Bottle: Crafted from a subtle, pale amethyst or light lavender-tinted clear glass, the main vessel is shaped like an inverted geometric obelisk.
The Figurine: The focal point is a striking frosted blue glass figurine seamlessly mounted to the front base. It depicts a classical, elegantly draped lady or nymph resting against a square pedestal.
The Designer: The sculpture and bottle layout were designed by the renowned French glass artist Julien Viard, celebrated for his luxurious 1920s and 30s figural fragrance container commissions.
The Elements: The ensemble is anchored onto a tiered, cream-colored Bakelite base that matches the molded screw cap at the top.
The Brand
The fragrance was produced by Dubarry Perfumery Co., a prominent British luxury cosmetics brand founded in Hove, East Sussex, in the early 20th century.
The company was famous for its high-quality lavenders, talcums, and beautifully artistic presentations that competed directly with top French fragrance houses.
