You cannot make this shit up lmfaooo
this elizabeth taylor music video is absolutely one of the funniest things she's ever done. footage of an actress playing her most famous roles and getting hounded by the press... the ring clearly meant to invoke Taylor's used as the promo shot on IG... the boat in the bathtub that looks just like the one from Karma... not to mention the complete absence of Taylor herself. it's almost like she's trying to tell us that sometimes, living the showgirl's life requires the narrator to temporarily disappear from her own story.
i'm like the water when your ship rolled in that night. every bait and switch was a work of art. all my lovers are forever in their minds. you wouldn't know what i mean.
Reputation is Illusion
One of my besties wrote up this theory. She didn't want to post it on her page, so I said I would post it for her. I think it's really good and worth checking out if you are a performance artlor. Enjoy. 😊
----------------------------
Reputation Is Illusion. Expectation the Magician. Taylor Swift calls herself our English teacher now. And honestly? She’s been schooling us for years. The syllabus? Foreshadowing. The textbook? Reputation. Ever since the TIME Person of the Year article dropped in December 2023, Taylor’s been nudging us back toward Reputation. Not subtly either. She’s practically waving a flag. And then came the letter on her website in May 2025, where she said, “it’s the one album in those first 6 that I felt couldn’t be improved upon by redoing it.” No tweaks. No edits. No Rep TV. That’s when I fell headfirst into the Reputation rabbit hole. In that TIME article, she described Reputation as “a goth-punk moment of female rage at being gaslit by an entire social structure.” But she also said the vault tracks will be “fire.” And the rerecording project? A mythical quest. Horcruxes. Infinity Stones. Gandalf whispering in her ear. “For me, it is a movie now,” she said. That line stuck with me. So let’s talk about the movie. The foreshadowing. The magic.
Track 1: …Ready For It? She opens with “But if I’m a thief, then he can join the heist…He can be my jailer – Burton to this Taylor.” That’s Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
Drama. Passion. Prison metaphors. And yes, the prison uniform imagery?
Familiar. Intentional.
“Let the games begin.” “Are you ready for it?” We didn’t know it then, but she was setting the stage.
Track 2: End Game This one hits different now. “I’m on the Ghost like I’m whipping a boat.” Travis Kelce owns a RollsRoyce Ghost.
Coincidence? I don’t think so. That car didn’t pop up in the narrative until December 2023—right when Taylor started calling Reputation a film. The same article that tells us that Taylor “harnesses the power of media in a bottle.”
Then there’s “Drinking on the beach with you all over me.” It’s giving vacation snapshots and softfocus romance.
Track 7: So It Goes… “All eyes on you, my magician.” Reputation, the illusion. Expectation, the magician. Taylor, the architect.
Track 9: Getaway Car This one? I can’t stop thinking about it. “Think about the place that you first met me.” Arrowhead Stadium. Their first public appearance.
The same place where Travis first saw her perform. The same place she saw him play. Full circle. “It was a great escape, a prison break, the light of freedom on my face.”
That line feels like her stepping out of exile.
The performance era begins here. “…with the three of us, honey, it’s a side show.” The media. The fans. The spectacle. Or maybe Travis, Taylor and Ross.
Track 10: King of My Heart “X marks the spot, where we fell apart.” That lyric suddenly feels like a breadcrumb trail. In the Bejeweled behind-the-scenes clip, Taylor and Jack Antonoff are working on the ghosting scene.
Taylor’s outfit? Very Marie Antoinette-coded. And Marie was born on November 2. The timestamp of the ghosting scene? 5:11. I believe the ghosting of the prince begins on November 5—the same day Guy Fawkes attempted 🧨to Parliament.
Let’s unpack that. Marie Antoinette represents misunderstood glamor, spectacle, and eventual downfall. Taylor wearing that look in a ghosting scene? It’s not just costume—it’s commentary. She’s playing the queen of performance, preparing for a symbolic exit. She’s been dropping exit signs all over the Showgirl era, including places where exits do not exist.
Guy Fawkes, on the other hand, is rebellion. Revolution. The masked figure who tried to blow up the system. November 5 is now a cultural symbol of resistance and dramatic change. So what happens when you combine Marie’s tragic elegance with Guy’s explosive defiance? You get Taylor Swift, ghosting the prince, unraveling the braids, and ending the illusion. Reputation isn’t just an album—it’s a prophecy. And the magician behind the curtain? Expectation.
The Ending: New Year’s Day She closes the album with New Year’s Day. And I think that’s the moment she’s been steering toward all along. The end of the performance era. The beginning of something real.
There’s more I want to say about that day. But I’ll save it for another post.
Holy shit bitches it might be time
The inflatable eras tour friendship bracelet that was wrapped around the last couple stadiums? Taylor purchased it and it is now around a stadium in San Francisco.
San Francisco pride is this weekend and the theme is queer joy isresistance
Christian Siriano posted The Dress yesterday.
Is this Coming Out 3.0?

i feel like i'm going through psychosis bc i Get this album but i sound crazy talking about it. the way the sky is opalite - a synthetic i.e fake stone but it used to be golden like daylight likeee whats not clicking its so obvious #tome that you cant look at it from a shes a lyrical genius perspective but instead these are satirical lyrics poking fun at how her how persona's a lie and the album is commentary on her being obsessed with catering to every demographic and her morality being very much warped by her success. "i stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror" + "i'm a mirrorball i'll show you every version of yourself tonight" + "you play stupid games you in stupid prizes" shes been telling yall shes not a good person for a while now and i will die on the hill that her art is more fun to consume when you're aware of this HOW ARE YOU GUYS NOT CLOCKING THE >SHOWGIRL< OF IT ALL
Can someone please explain why the best songwriter in history chose a lyric from Blank Space for her wedding?
From the Mastermind herself:
1989 (TV) prologue:
I want to talk about the potential symbolism in this photo
this bodysuit she is wearing is in a corset shape/style so its most likely that the back of it is laced up.
my interpretation of this photo is that the way she is hovered over reminds me of a position in which a corset is laced up. like shes bracing herself to get into this bodysuit.
How I intrept this further is that that corsets are often constricting due to the figure hugging & boning of the corset, this could be taylor constricting her true self and making herself fit into this brand/perofrmance or her showgirl persona she has created. costuming/styling is typically a super detailed thing that requires a thought process on why a person/character is dressed like this and why they dress like that, and how it relfects the persons story or could foreshadow what we yet don't know about this person. Or what the overarching theme is.
also to add further onto this shes clearly backstage, so taylor seems to be getting ready to perform. her face expression really sticks out as it seems mundane, its not happy or condifent or sad its hard to read. this could reflect that shes so consumed by this showgirl persona shes losing herself. shes seems unethused by performing or tired of it.
but the audience doesn't want to see the true taylor, they want to see the showgirl persona we all know, because behind the scenes of being showgirl is probably messy, chaotic, and not what we expect. much like taylors true self to the public and unknwoing eye would be a shock, messy and not what you would expect.
If you have any other thoughts lmk
