Here's my submission (slide 137) for this year's @tolkienrsb event, featuring Elros and Maedros across the centuries! I'll reblog this with a link to the accompanying fic, written by @ten-summoners-fails, once the collection goes live :D
entranced by a celeborn who stayed on in middle-earth not just to watch over and support arwen, but because immediately upon getting wise to his granddaughterâs engagement he went âoho. a babyâ and started making galadriel scry into minas tirith so he could craft a mental map of all sharp corners that would need to be infant-proofed. eldarion is born and the rest of all dinner-table conversations for eternity is âgrandpa you need to stop buying him sixteen [gondorian equivalent of a spongebob ice pop] every dayâ celeborn, hollow-voiced: âi survived the sack of eregion and the fall of beleriand and you do not wish me to Cherish My Great-Grandchildâ while aragorn sits there spoon-feeding eldarion porridge like đ
Aragorn & Arwen
And they lived happily ever after :)
I had so much fun with ArwenÂŽs dress and hair! I was a bit torn whether I should give her a hair comb, but I liked this version best without the hair comb just below the crown.
@tolkiensiblingsweek, day 3: In which Elrond and Elros snatch a rare moment of peace amid the War of Wrath.

âHe appeared as the fairest of all the children of the world, of threefold race: of the Edain, and of the Eldar, and of the Maiar of the Blessed Realm.â
Day 7: Dior son of LĂșthien
reading NoME again and there's an interesting part relating arwen and aragorn's relative ages:
also I had a conversation with somebody about peredhel aging (might have been at the aderthad??)
some interesting things here:
the default peredhel settings is the pre-Darkness maturity rate (50:1) plus beleriand aging rate (100:1)
does this mean the pre-Earendil&Elwing peredhel got the 10:1 post-Darkness beleriand elf rate or the 1:1 human rate?
the luthien settings (marrying a human) involve automatically switching to human aging upon marriage, presumably related to the feÀ/osanwë marriage bond?
Vardamir got the Choice (!!)
did all of elros' kids get the Choice and choose to live as Men, or is Vardamir still somewhere as a gondorian loremaster (or hanging out in elrond's library)?
the long youth multiplier converts the post-Darkness 10:1 maturity rate to the peredhel default 50:1, but converts elros' overall 3:1 aging rate to 6:1?
WHAT OF DIOR
bonus:
kinslaying is a mildly effective anti ageing treatment. somehow
Instead of honouring specific aspects of his heritage, Elrond creates something entirely new for himself.
The House of Elrond is itâs own thing. Imladris is entirely unique. You think you see something Noldorin or Sindar or even Mannish, but look for a second more and itâs not like that at all.
Because when Elrond designed it as a Homely House, he made sure anyone who came knew theyâd be welcome. They could heal and start over without judgement.
(Ultimately thatâs what keeps his relations with other races so strong too. They feel comfortable in this home of many lines.)
There are specifically DĂșnedain influences though. Heâs fostered so many kids, looked after so many families, he wants to make sure they know that they might have lost their kingdom, but they still have a home. Itâs common for DĂșnedain to stop by, take refuge, recover, just say hi to friends. But theyâre such an unknown people, you canât see it unless you know itâs there. Thereâs even a beautiful little graveyard where so many of his distant nephews and nieces have found their rest, visited regularly by the residents of Imladris.
Thereâs also many many trinkets from across the centuries scattered around. A wonky dagger with a place of honour, the first work of a rising chieftain. The cracked vase from that time it was knocked over by a ball from a young boy. Letters and drawings carefully kept in Elrond, Elladan, Elrohir, Arwen, and even Celebrianâs drawers. Glorfindel, Erestor, and most residents of Rivendell have at least a few items gifted by the many generations of DĂșnedain whoâve walked through the valley.
All this is taken with them when they sail, and the memory of these people whose lives were so entwined with their own lives on.
