So you've decided to try TB-500. Cool. Now comes the part nobody warns you about: most of what's sold online isn't regulated like approved medicines, and product quality can vary significantly between suppliers.

Here's the thing people often misunderstand. "Research use only" on a label doesn't mean the peptide has been independently tested. It means the product isn't being marketed as an approved medicine for human use. Whether the contents match the label depends on the quality control practices of the supplier.

So how do you actually protect yourself?

Watch for these warning signs.

No Certificate of Analysis (COA):

Reputable research peptide suppliers should provide batch-specific testing that verifies identity and purity. If you can't find a COA, or the company won't provide one, that's a warning sign.

No independent third-party testing:

A COA is most valuable when it comes from an independent laboratory rather than being generated in-house. Independent testing reduces the risk of bias and helps verify the peptide's identity and purity.

The price seems too good. Manufacturing research peptides, purifying them, and confirming their identity and purity through analytical testing all add cost. Prices that are dramatically below the market average should prompt additional scrutiny.

Vague product descriptions:

Listings that avoid specifying the peptide sequence, concentration, or batch information make it difficult to verify exactly what is being sold.

No batch or lot number. Batch numbers allow a product to be traced back to a specific production run and its corresponding test results. Without one, there is no easy way to verify whether your vial matches the reported testing.
