Pentatonic?
Listen up. A pentatonic scale is a scale of five notes instead of 7.
As an example, for C scale, the pentatonic scale would be C-D-E-G-A. Why that?
Well, try to make a chord with just F and B, it will sounds awfully bad. It has a name… that i can’t tell you in English, but its French equivalent is accord de triton.
So when you remove these two notes, it makes a « perfect » scale, with only « well-sounding » chords.
That’s the meaning between Pentatonic and thanks to my music theory teacher for making me realize it today.
Five notes from a single scale, like the five units. No matter how and with you you put them, they will always sound good.
