An evergreen, perennial succulent Umbilicus rupestris (navelwort, hipwort, penny pies, pennywort, wall pennycress, kidney wort, Venus's navelwort) grows in a rosette pattern with fleshy, rounded leaves that have a distinctive central depression. The flower spikes are produced from May to August. This UK native species can be found growing in rock crevices, walls and stony areas.

Asian Pennywort Drink / Nam Bai Bua Bok / Nuoc Rau Ma (Vegan)

AKA Hydrocotyle multiflora, petiolaris, yucatanensis and caffra, American pennywort, beach pennywort, Californian pennywort, coast pennywort, coastal plain pennywort, Kurnell curse, Kurnell's curse, and largeleaf marshpennywort.

Native to the Afrotropics, Neotropics, and the southern US, but a horrendously invasive weed in coastal SE Australia, including the entire NSW coastline, where it thrives on coastal dunes and on sandy soil on cliff faces, along creeks and swamps near the coast, and lawns.

now i’ve been through almost every reported hydrocotyle on there and pretty much the only similar ones have been left unidentified. the esteemed Pennywort Man could not even provide a species ID for me ..! it’s special, it’s unique and i really believe that this species has not been named yet !! i will discuss this with the Pennywort Man (once i work up the courage) as he is a botanist with a special interest in hydrocotyles and i’m sure he’s been researching this for quite a while now.
