Iām back! I was sick for a whole week, and Iām finally feeling better.
It wasnāt CoViD or anything but thereās definitely a summer virus going around that you should avoid at all costsā¦ take my word for it.

An update about the status of the upcoming chapter of TPAL:
So, I was planning on revising and editing today (Friday) and releasing the chapter this evening. However, there were unforeseen complications with that plan - I got a call this morning that a spot had opened up for me to do my skills exam for my license today. Of course I took the spot and tested my skills a week early to get it out of the way. I passed, woohoo! š„³
Now Iām home and all I want to do is take a nap.
So thatās what Iām going to do. Weāll see if Iām up for editing when I wake up. If so, maybe Iāll post tonight. If not, weāll aim for tomorrow night.
Editing is going really well. Iāve definitely got my writing mojo back, guys.
Personal update below the cutā¦
Ugh. So the college lab position at my alma mater that I was so excited about? Well, Iād passed all the rounds of interviews and was waiting to hear back. Then they emailed me a couple days ago saying, āCongratulations, your application has moved forward in the search processā¦ā
Obviously, I took that email as a very good sign.
Today they let me know that I didnāt get the job. Apparently, I was their second choice and something HR did when they moved the top candidateās applications forward triggered that email. I get the explanation, but seriously? Who sends an email to a candidate saying ācongratulationsā a day before informing them they didnāt get the job?!!
It really got my hopes up, only to crush them. Ugh. I hate academia. Their hiring practices suck!
Writing Update:
It turns out that I havenāt lost my mojo!
Yesterday I went out for coffee, sat down and focused for a few hours, and I was able to scrape together a much improved version of chapter 23. The dialogue has been drastically overhauled, some plot points were cut, and overall the story is way easier to follow.

Hey! I am still working on the next chapter of the Princess and the Lawyer! My goal is to put it out tonight, but it might take me until tomorrow.
I agreed to go running with a friend, so thatās where Iām off to now, but I will be back at my desk working on the next chapter as soon as weāre done. This is a fun one and Iām excited for you guys to enjoy it!
I wrote 2,547 words of part 10 last night.
