The power of social media has influenced and has made social impacting changed to communities with protests and petitions online.
With our voice being stronger than online, with our words online it can echo throughout and reach new heights.
Whether it's a change within the healthcare system, or to help out a local farm. Online petitions can be easily accessed online, and with the help of smartphones, it's easier than ever to participate.
Bakardjieva 2009 states instead of an emphasis on each individual’s freedom to pursue his or her own good, communitarian thinkers insist on the centrality of the common good and ground citizenship in the act of its embracement and prioritisation. Making a clear point that change happens not for one person, but for the community
So, how does one impact the community with change? With a strong idea and point, sharing a petition online can go viral online, spreading through the internet gaining a strong online community.
It's no longer just politics within one place, no longer is one problem just a one country problem, it's become a global issue.
Which is pretty amazing because, without the internet, we wouldn't be able to gain more help by other like-minded people with that same opinions and thoughts.
So, what can you use to get your word out there to the world?
One great example is the online petition change.org. In their online case study ' Success factors of online petitions: Evidence from Change.org' found that their study revealed important factors that online petitions do significantly influence, and there is also an emotional factor involved. (Elnoshokaty, Ahmed Said ; Deng, Shuyuan ; Kwak, Dong-Heon, 2016,)
Wright (2016) found out that it works on increasing users engagement with online petitions through the signature count, and that it is a powerful tool to be used to reach political topics, addressing major problems that can change the world.
So what are you waiting for, change the world and voice your opinion? You're no longer alone, you are as one.
