#pebbletuft

The Clan has made it through leaf-bare.  But both medicine cats are still injured and the herb stores are low.  Despite this, Dawnstar (108) is confident that his Clan adores him.  Except for Aphidwhisker (21).  He’s certain that his former apprentice is plotting against him.  In the Dark Forest, Yuccawillow whispers lies in his ear about Aphidwhisker.  Meanwhile, Aphidwhisker and Pebbletuft (57) have grown close.  And they both have a grudge against Boulderflood (40).  The senior warriors seem to love her, and Aphidwhisker’s jealous.  Pebbletuft is just out for blood from anyone at any time. She gets in a fight with Nettlestripe (93). There are definitely some tensions brewing in the Clan.  Dawnstar also continues to encourage the Clan pranskters, and covers for Hollowminnow (25) while he prepares for a prank.  On the other paw, he feels like Cherviljumble (129) should be paying more attention to him.  While Pebbletuft is picking fights, Sofanthiel (113) enjoys time with Nettlestripe and feels secure with him around.  She smiles charmingly and captures his attention.  Sofanthiel also admires how dedicated Dapplemuzzle (21) is.  While Aphidwhisker plots with Pebbletuft and Burdockbeam (40) goofs off, Dapplemuzzle puts down her head and gets to work.  Tanglechirp (71) is still cranky at being on bedrest and is jealous when Scorchhawk (16) gets praised by Dawnstar for a catch she makes.  He should be out there hunting.  Hollowminnow is also impressed by Dapplemuzzle’s hard work.  It means there’s less for him to do around camp and more time for him to plot pranks.  Hopcurl (42) and Kestrelcreek (113) both wonder how Peatfeather (36) is doing.  The two of them team up and eavesdrop on her.  She’s wondering what living with twolegs is like while going on a swim in a newly thawed lake.  She suspects she would much rather be in the Clan than trapped in a twoleg den without access to water.

The Clan has had good luck with making it through leaf-bare with so few herbs.  But the only working healer, Pebbletuft (56), is grabbed and dropped by an eagle, breaking her leg.  Can the Clan make it through the last stretch of leaf-bare without losing cats?  Thankfully, Hopcurl (41) tossed a snake out of camp before it could bite anyone.  A snakebite would be a sure way to die in these conditions. Tanglechirp (70) is cranky over still being sick and takes it out on Aphidwhisker (20).  He snaps at his daughter when she bumps into him.  It’s an effort for her not to use her powers on him in annoyance. It’s chilly out, and Nettlestripe (92) and Longpelt (37) huddle together, using their fire magic to keep themselves warm.  Petalfrost (35) is also grateful for Longpelt being willing to share her warmth.  He thinks of her as his best friend.  Mitemask (24) has been struggling to connect with her mom, and isn’t very close with Hollowminnow (24)  anymore.  But this moon, she and Kestrelcreek (112) get along better.  Yay!  Even though relations with the other Clans are good, for now, Flailvalley wants to keep his skills sharp and spars with Boulderflood (39).  It’s useful to know how to fight against cats with any power set.  Except dark-cursed ones, but there's not much any cat can do to combat their death touch.  Cherviljumble (128) is acutely aware of being the oldest cat in the Clan.  And she’s not even that old!  So many cats in ElementClan die young.  Too many.  She’s lucky to have made it this far, and likely only did because she joined the Clan when she was already older (91 moons).  Embershell (41) is feeling a little trapped in the Clan.  She doesn’t have anything keeping her there (aside from her littermate) and is daydreaming about all there must be to see outside of the mountains.

Healer’s den: Bumble (broken bone), Pebbletuft (broken bone), Tanglechrip (yellowcough), Hatchswipe (sore)

It’s now leaf-bare.  The only herbs in the store are two rosemary.  Bumble (98) is injured, leaving Pebbletuft (54) as the only working healer.  Things are not looking great.  Mitemask (22) feels like this will be a bad leaf-bare.  Something in his bones is telling him the worst is yet to come.  Dawnstar (105) does his best not to worry though, and just focuses on fixing the things he can.  He stops by the healer’s den to make sure Bumble is eating.  And because he has whitecough. Dawnstar also thinks that Bluestripe (96) is the most beautiful cat in the Clan.  With Dawnstar sick, Bluestripe is taking on the job of caring for the Clan.  It’s exhausting.  She appreciates the effort that Primcrest put in now.  And Pebbletuft is gathering deathberries.  Because that’s the herb they need so desperately.  Nettlestripe sees her picking them and is a little unnerved. Sofanthiel (110), at least, is feeling better, and is spending some time with Flailvalley (13).  She’s impressed with the young warrior’s insight.  Embershell (39) is frustrated that she got frostbitten on a patrol.  She was so busy keeping her patrol-mate warm that she forgot to warm herself!  She vents to Aries (87) and feels better afterwards.  Nettlestripe (90) gave Kestrelcreek (110) a gift of kestrel feathers, but she doesn’t like them.  She doesn’t want anything in her pelt and tells him as much.  He feels like he understands her better now.  Petalfrost (33) had enjoyed working with Dapplemuzzle (18) to reinforce the camp for winter, but then he overheard her talking badly about him, and how much she hated working with him.  Hurtful.  Hollowminnow (22) also worked with Dapplemuzzle on adding water-proofing to the healer’s den.  They argued about how best to do it, with Dapplemuzzle thinking growing plants over it would be better than Hollowminnow’s idea of putting a shield of ice over it.  Mitemask ends up fixing it just by weaving in some new brambles.

FurledClan hasn’t struck back against ElementClan.  Directly.  But. . .an abnormally strong windstorm hit the caverns and blew away all of the herbs.  FurledClan is known for having powerful wind-blessed cats.  Bumble (95) and Pebbletuft (51) are. . .a little worried, to say the least, especially after Cinderblockpuddle (237) dies from head damage.  The Clan is a little shaken by his loss, but they knew he wouldn’t be around for long.  The healers are more worried about Cavecatcher (76), who’s infected tail is not looking great.  And they don’t have the herbs to treat it.  Bluestripe (93) knows that Flailpaw (10) is under a lot of pressure right now and comforts him while picking burrs out of his pelt.  She makes sure he understands that it’s important for him to keep up in his training, though.  Later, as they’re curled up in Bluestripe’s nest, Tanglechirp (65) tells her that he doesn’t think that Flailpaw is being completely honest about how hard he’s working.  While Croucheye (29) may not be a fan of Mistypaw (10), her apprentice, she’s glad that at least Minnowpaw (10) isn’t her apprentice.  The young cat’s constant fretting is annoying.  Dapplemuzzle (15) is impatient to get to fight in a battle and prove herself.  She’s jealous that Mitemask got to fight in a border skirmish when she didn’t.  Mitemask (19) notices that she’s upset and wants to talk with her.  Dapplemuzzle ignores her.

As leaf-fall begins, a plague of minor illnesses and injuries plague the Clan.  Lakepelt (102) is a little overwhelmed with all the cats coming to her asking for help with their soreness, running noses, and stomach aches.  And it doesn’t help that Pebbletuft (27) has a more serious illness and has come down with whitecough.  But, in better news, the Clan has welcomed two new warriors and a new mediator!  Echopaw (12) is now Echoarch, in honor of his heart of gold.  Bluestripe (69) is proud of him, and is proud that Creekstar (148) gave him a name that honors both Echomoor, and Bluestripe’s sister, Archdapple.  Echoarch deserves it.  Emberpaw (12) is named Embershell for her spirit.  Nettlestripe (63) is also proud of his first apprentice.  And Hoppaw (12)  is given the warrior name of Hopcurl in honor of her observance, a useful skill in a mediator.  Something she has observed is that Kestrelcreek (83) and Brightmouse (69) have become mates!  Kestrelcreek is still mates with Almondback (65), but Brightmouse is only mates with her.  Downgaze (75) is proud of his kits and notices that Embershell is being very helpful around camp.  In reality, Embershell misses the structure of being an apprentice and is feeling a little lost.  She turns to her grandma, Creekstar and asks for advice.  Creekstar offers to send her on more patrols and keep her busy.  Sweet Marmalade (79) has never been very close with Creekstar.  He decides to spend some time with the old leader and comes to understand her better.  She’s stressed and worried about her Clan constantly.  She became a leader at a young age with no one to teach her, and it’s all she knows.  She’s doing the best with what she has and has led the Clan through some really hard times.  The Clan also has four new apprentices, as the Ground and Sky kits have turned six moons old.  Skypaw (6) has been apprenticed to Tanglechirp (41) and is hard at work thinking up ways to prevent cats sneaking up on her bad side in battle.  Basaltpaw (6) is apprenticed to Sweet Marmalade, who Creekstar hopes will tone down his ambitious tendencies.  Petalpaw  (6) and Peatpaw (6) are apprenticed to Cherviljumble (99) and Hatchswipe (39) respectively, giving both warriors their first apprentices.  Meanwhile, Crouchkit (5) is excited to get out of the nursery.  Mostly because Copperpaw (10) is big and fluffy and if they’re sharing the same den she’ll have more chances to cuddle and be warm.

Skykit (3) has always been a bit jumpy, especially with her wind-blessing allowing her to jump extra high.  Now, Pebbletuft (24) has determined that it’s actually partially due to the fact that cats have been approaching her on her bad side.  She was born with one bad eye and no one picked up on it until now.  Also in the nursery, Kestrelcreek (80) is not healing from giving birth as well as Lakepelt (99) had hoped she would.  It’s a little worrying, considering that the last cat to give birth in the Clan, Whorlstem, died from it.  Kestrelcreek doesn’t want to leave her kits and mate (and Brightmouse-66).  Before she realized that she had an infected wound, Kestrelcreek was having a fun time playing with Brightmouse.  They might have to postpone that, now.  With Kestrelcreek not feeling great, Almondback (62) spends some time with the kits and tells jokes about the other Clans to Rimekit (2).  Cherviljumble (96) is impressed with how well the Ground and Sky kits are doing (that’s what I’m calling them now).  The four of them don’t have a parent in the nursery, and Petalkit (3) has been really brave about telling his siblings to give the younger kits some space.  Basalkit (3) is missing having an adult around to cuddle with.  Sweet Marmalade (76)  is just so fluffy and he just wants to cuddle.  Peatkit (3) works together with Basaltkit to sneak into the warriors den to surprise Sweet Marmalade.  With Downgaze (72) out of the healer’s den, he and Alderflight (47) are taking some time together.  They go on a ‘training’ patrol and have a great time racing each other through the woods.  Meanwhile, Dawnfreckle (74) and Burdockpaw (7) continue to not get along.  Dawnfreckle thinks she’s annoying and wishes that she would just do what he asks without trying to undermine him.   Copperpaw (7) feels like Hoppaw (9) has been acting stuck up and rude lately.  Just because she’s a mediator, doesn’t mean she’s better than all of them!  Echopaw (9) really likes spending time with his older sister, Hatchswipe (36).  It’s a good way to get information.  He keeps asking why.  Why do they catch prey like that?  Why are the days getting longer?  Why is there a strange cat talking to him in his dreams?  Hatchswipe doesn’t have an answer for most of them, and is a little worried about the ‘strange cat’.  Creekstar (145) has also been having strange dreams.  She’s worried that it’s Yuccawillow trying to reach her from the Dark Forest.  It’s actually Echomoor, who has decided that the time for silence about Auburnpaw’s death is over.  He hopes to be able to reach either Creekstar or Echopaw soon.
