Very round kitty. She's Hawkwing's wife and also cousin. Seriously, as much as I can forgive this happening in any other clan, incest happening in SkyClan is just ridiculous. The clan was just formed, barely any cats there are related. Additionally, since it was mostly disconnected from the other clans at the time, they could have introduced any amount of new characters with little to no explanation. And yet, they made first cousins the parents of their two main characters... Pebbleshine's father was Sparrowpelt, while his sister, Cherrytail, is Hawkwing's mother. And it's not even like they're some obscure, background retconned siblings like Dustpelt and Brindleface - no, they were explicitly introduced as siblings in Firestar's Quest where they first appeared. And the worst thing is that I actually kinda enjoyed Hawkwing's and Pebbleshine's dynamic! Their rivals-to-lovers story, the angst, the loss, I genuinely liked it all. But I couldn't let myself fully enjoy it, because in the back of my head I still had the knowledge that they're cousins...

But aside from Pebbleshine's questionable choice of a mate... I like her! Her novella was super miserable, but I honestly kind of liked it. Maybe it's just because I really loved Hawkwing's Journey and Pebbleshine's Kits is a direct addition to it... I don't know, either way, I like Pebbleshine a decent amount.

Her name being just three letters away from Puddleshine makes me glad that she died before SkyClan joined the other clans. I already get confused when Flipclaw and Finleap are mentioned together, I would absolutely lose my mind if I ever had to read Puddleshine and Pebbleshine interacting.
