happy pride month Now what if i wrote in anti-colonialism into my sksw post-canon au in the form of Peatrice as the primary advocate for NOT establishing Hyrule down on the surface, acting as an antagonist/foil to Zelda. Zelda already feels threatened by her after she finally returns to Skyloft with Link and discovers they're in a relationship, but it's this that pushes her over the edge and makes her realize she's drowning in Hylia's perceived divine will. She can't tell apart "Zelda" and "Hylia" anymore. This scares Link and pushes him away further despite himself—he loves Zelda so much and can't bear to see her changed. Peatrice eventually pieces this all together and finds herself strangely empathizing with Zelda. Even if she doesn't understand the divine machinations at work, she can see a girl with a broken heart as clear as day. Groose and Zelda grow closer, discovering that they find a sense of normalcy in each other because they've both changed so much. Link realizes maybe they all don't actually understand the divine at work and are just as much victims of it as he is. Peatrice pushes Link to reconcile with Zelda, and comes to see Groose as a fun and surprisingly sensitive guy to be around in the process. etc etc..... BAM queerplatonic polycule.
