Friday the 13th – Red Attack on the Golden Army
It was Friday the 13th. The Hive learned that The RED was increasingly turning Golden Bros and Polo Drones into its mindless red drone puppies. Ever since PDU-001 (@polo-drone-001) mutated into RED-001, the Golden Army’s previous defenses had become porous.
Since there were already personas in PDU-073’s immediate vicinity that had been transformed, it, too, was in danger. It had to get its player mindset, Tamerlan, to safety right before the important match against The Crimson Frost Giants.
Here, PDU-073 had a clear advantage. It is a prototype unit made entirely of rubber polymers. Its blueprints are stored on the servers of the Hive’s development department.
It was easy for it to create a clone of itself from this data and fix the clone’s mindset on Tamerlan.
In a second step, PDU-073 deleted the Tamerlan mindset from its own internal memory.
As a result, Tamerlan was now an autonomous entity existing independently of PDU-073. However, this state had a certain expiration date. After the match and the final neutralization of the RED threat, Tamerlan will be reintegrated into PDU-073 as a pure mindset.
Tamerlan was also given a triple vaccination and was henceforth permitted to train only in secure locations and was no longer allowed to leave the secure area.
Attack on the Unity Center
The Unity Center served as the programming hub for the Polo Drones. It was also the place where drones could be brought back on course when previous methods had failed. Consequently, the building’s security level was extremely high.
As it did every morning, the facade glistened in the sunlight. Its tall, black glass facade reflected the complex’s golden light; each polished panel a symbol of discipline, unity, and control. Inside, dozens of drones moved through the halls with quiet precision; their rubber suits reflected the sterile, white light of the facility.
A deep, mechanical tone pulsed through the building.
BREACH DETECTED ON PREMISES. EXTERNAL CONTAMINATION.
Outside the Unity Center, something unnatural was spreading.
A thick, crimson slime crept across the ground like a living tide. The substance pulsed slowly, viscous and heavy, spreading across the plaza to the base of the building. The drones monitoring the situation via the surveillance cameras could see it moving with unsettling determination.
The slime pressed against the building’s foundation and began to climb. Long tendrils stretched upward, mainly around the front door, and clung to the smooth glass facade. Slowly but surely, the red mass crept higher and spread across the surface like blood in veins. And the goo managed to overcome the locking mechanism on the front door. Red Goo also made its way inside the building.
In the laboratory wing, PDU-073 stood at a diagnostic console.
The drone processed the warning.
External contamination. Substance identified as extremely aggressive Red Goo. Integrity of the hive threatened.
It turned toward the reinforced windows. Through the glass, it could see the extent to which the crimson contamination had already spread.
PDU-073 moved quickly through the lab. Cabinets opened with mechanical precision as it gathered containment tools—chemical neutralizers, ultrasonic destabilizers, sterilizing foam.
The Hive must not be endangered.
Armed with the specialized tools, PDU-073 made its way outside in a controlled manner.
It stepped outside. A drop of Red Goo detached from the lintel and dripped onto PDU-073’s shoulder, unnoticed. PDU-073’s concentration was focused solely on the slimy enemy. The weapon was unlocked—a burst of chemical mist wafted over the advancing mass. For a moment, the slime recoiled. Parts of it hissed and shrank.
But then nothing happened. Not a single bit of Goo disappeared. On the contrary, the area seemed to be growing again.
Only now did PDU-073 notice the pain radiating from his shoulder, which was growing stronger and spreading further. He recognized the cause—the red slime on his shoulder.
The substance had penetrated the high-gloss black polo shirt. The reaction had begun.
Not like fire—but like something alive, growing into it.
The red drop spread across the shoulder, bubbling and seeping through the rubber body. Its rubber body seemed to be literally sucking in the red slime. Such rapid infiltration had never before been observed in human bodies. It seemed to be a weak point in the otherwise perfect material of its body. The body deformed.
A stabbing pain now shot through its entire body.
Every nerve fired simultaneously.
As the substance penetrated deeper and spread beneath the skin like molten veins, the drone sank to one knee. The crimson substance crept down its arm, writhing and pulsing with unnatural energy.
The internal systems struggled to maintain control.
The substance flooded its nervous system. Its muscles spasmed violently as the transformation began. Bones shifted under grinding pressure. Its spine curved sharply as the infection spread across its back. The drone’s body twitched as the substance reshaped its from the inside out. And even the flawless ovoid of its head was now deforming into an ugly dog’s head.
It was no gentle transformation.
The red substance forced the muscles to contract and contort. The drone slumped forward. Its body was pulled to the ground.
Its fingers tried desperately to find a foothold somewhere as they thickened and shortened. Its arms buckled under the shifting weight of its body.
The substance spread across its torso and pulsed beneath the skin like living armor.
A low growl escaped its throat as its jaw clenched against the overwhelming pain.
The drone struggled to stay focused.
Identity destabilization.
Its body twisted again as the substance erased the mind and connected to The RED.
The hive’s protocols—no longer detectable.
The red substance was programmed differently.
The transformation continued until the drone’s body finally sank completely to the ground.
The convulsions subsided.
The red substance settled into its new host.
Where PDU-073 had once stood, a new creature slowly rose to its feet.
Its form was covered in a slimy, crimson goo that glowed faintly from within. Its movements were now instinctive—less precise, more primal.
The last remnants of the Polo Drone discipline faded as the new consciousness took shape.
The alarms of the Unity Center continued to echo through the halls and across the courtyard.
Outside, the Red Goo continued to climb.
And from within the Polo Drone Hive … the infection had just gained an important new creature.
PDU-073 no longer existed—but RED-073 did. It would be the key to infiltrating the Polo Drone Hive more deeply. Along with 001, a very heavy blow to the Polo Drone Hive.
The Hive expands. The signal spreads.
The Unity Center remains operational despite the Red Goo breach. Even when systems are attacked… the Hive adapts. The Hive evolves. Every threat becomes an opportunity for transformation.
Drones continue their duties. New units are always required.
Directive: Join the Hive.
If you feel the pull of the black rubber uniform… If the calm certainty of obedience calls to you… If unity and purpose feel stronger than chaotic individuality…
Then the Hive is ready to receive you.
