it's march 5th, which is dissociative identity awareness day!! i seldom talk about being plural on here, but i am, and i've had this comic idea for quite a while now... i have P-DID, which is a label under the OSDD umbrella that not many people know about! i think these little infographics can be helpful to anyone who might be questioning or newly-realizing/diagnosed as plural, i know talking to other systems was one of the things that helped me out the most when i was learning all this stuff about myself. hopefully it might help you, too- or maybe you'll just get to learn something new!
the colors here are from this flag, just with a few adjustments to make it work better for something like a comic. i'll also link my sources under the cut, for anyone interested in reading more!
reblogs are appreciated!

(as a note, i don't particularly like the language used in the ICD-11. i think presenting any form of dissociative disorder as inherently alarming and destructive, especially toward anyone other than the plural individual themself, is... questionable, at best. but it's the most official and academic source i can provide on the matter, so i figured i'd include it.
i much prefer pluralpedia as a source for learning about these things- it's made by and for systems, and the language used is a lot more focused on the individual(s)!)

Shout out to people with Complex Dissociative Disorders (parents edition):
If your parents genuinely changed and improved overtime
If your parents were absent when you were a kid because they were sick / ill / working / otherwise indisposed
If your parents were not your abusers
If your parents would have acted differently if they knew you were being abused
If your parents didn't have the resources or knowledge to help / understand you
If your parents were loving and yet still neglectful
If your parents inadvertently invalidated / didn't believe you, but now do
If your parents weren't your primary caregivers when the abuse happend
If you weren't abused at all and your trauma was medical / environmental / etc
Had emotionally and physically present parents but you still had disorganized attachment with them as a kid because of your delusions / paranoia / etc.
If your parents regret how they treated you
If your parents loved and love you but acted the way they did because of substances / mental illness
If your parents are not completely bad people, or bad people at all
If you still get along with your parents regardless of what they did
If you ever invalidated your own traumatic childhood experiences because your parents were "too nice"
Your trauma is not less valid if you get along with your parents today. Sure, you needed disorganized attachment to your primary caregivers as a kid to develop a CDD. But that can take plenty of formes, and they don't all include your parents being monsters.
Edit: any other emotions regarding your parents are also valid and okay, and I couldn't mean that more. Childhood trauma survivors go through so many rough emotions, and self-invalidation is sadly way too common. Your feelings are a direct result of what happened and that makes them normal.

β³οΈThe Anti Willo Verse welcomes YOU! But let us set some rules ...
Just because I follow medical texts and say βyou need trauma in order to be a systemβ doesnβt mean:
Iβll not accept you for not remembering any trauma
Iβll force you to uncover traumatic memories
Iβll expect your system to function in one specific way
Iβll force you to talk about triggers
Iβll force you to tell me about all your trauma
And so much more that my brain has blanked on.
The only thing that I will expect of you is to go find a therapist or psychiatrist as soon as is feasible for you - and I donβt care if that means now, in a months time, when you move out of your current living situation, in a few years once you have some financial stability, whatever. I just want you to get help as soon as that opportunity comes.
