Birdtober 21: Female Plumage

Wow, was this really a 'trust the process' entry. One of my main goals with this challenge was to pick out a simple colour palette from reference pictures. But this birdie's very bedazzled with lots of details and hue shifts (and lots of low res photos), so I was really at a loss of how to colour her!

Thank goodness I like how she turned out though. I also really like her pose here. I saw one photo that looked very raptor (as in dinosaur) like and knew I had to draw it and make it look even more raptor-like. (This is also how I found out that peafowls have extra talons sticking out the back of their legs.)

PERSONS OF INTEREST

A mass attack featuring 100 Delta Green characters! (96 portraits + the 4 shadows.) The red string are connections between characters from the shared universe universe of all 3 DG campaigns I've been in, plus a King in Yellow game. The three campaigns are represented by three of the shadows: Gavrill (Helvetia), Kiara (Melati, game I ran), and Finan (M-EPIC). The last shadow guy on top is my GM sona :)

Besides the portrait frames, everything was freehanded. It took ~43h over 11 days. I wrote both personal notes for every character and also tracked the demographics of this batch of DG characters. You can read it here.

Grace and Laika, Project Hail Mary's star map, the Petrova line and a broken finishing line, a field of grass and fire for losing dogs -- they're always in the back of Stratt's mind when she looks up to the sky from her prison cell.

In 2019, Rusty Lake had an art and poetry contest to win the graphic novel they recently released then. I submitted this and was one of the three winners! It still holds well and I'm still a fan of it, so to this blog it goes.

Day 17: Specialsed Diet

Ooh I'm so glad I finally got around to drawing this bird!! I've always wanted to ever since I learned of its existence about 4 years ago. They look so cute, and being named after jambu (Indonesian for guava) makes them even cuter. Whoever named them [guava] fruit dove kinda made a 'chai tea' situation though.
