This pattern was a waste of yarn
My friend Emil asked for a pair of socks in pink since that's his favorite color. And we both liked this pattern... However, it is honestly mind boggling how much I have to fenagle it. The pattern was written in a way that is annoying to read and I'm genuinely wondering how 19 people actually made it.
If you do it as the pattern says in rounds 2 and 3, you end up with more stitches than what it's calling for (23 and 33 respectively). What you actually want to do is 2 dc in every stitch AFTER the chain 3, and THEN put a dc in the same stitch as the chain three. That way you actually end up with 20 stitches instead of 23.
And when you get to the heel, she really should have done a better job at explain what she meant by false stitch. Because there is such a thing as a false stitch in Crocheting, but that's not what she was referring to at all!
This is a false stitch in Crochet, used to replace the chain 3 at the start of the round for double crochets. What she has you do is create a stitch look alike by threading the tail end through the slip stitch we made and then fasten off.
This pattern is not good if you're looking to frog it later. You're already cutting it twice. All in all... I do NOT recommend this pattern, especially if you're not familiar with EUR shoe/sock sizes or have larger feet. I wear a size 9 US Womens and even with the modifications I made it was still too small to fit my heel.

Every little bit helps
Fingerless gloves made by following Sybil R’s pattern for U-Turn Mitts.
The pattern is straightforward with a really elegant and comfortable result. It’s very easy to adjust the size (it’s based on how wide you make the wrist piece) and the rest of the project flows naturally from there. It appears projects frequently end up with an awkward point at the joint while making the wrist piece, but adding some stitches to the arches helped even it out for me.
Yarn is K+C’s Superwash Wool Luxe.
