When I need to layout even spacing on an irregular or hard-to-measure surface I use paper and repeat folds to get perfectly equal gaps
Notice how the paper has been cut so the ends meet the same seam on each side of the piece
Fold in half to find the middle, then fold back the ends to place the final point of the pattern, then fold in halves
Folds are easy to find and evenly spaced marks that fit the piece exactly
Help me decide which configuration to use for my log cabin square. The first, with the lozenge-shape white space, is my original configuration, but I'm kind of digging the other layouts as well? (The only one I definitely don't like is like the fourth, but with the dark corners on the outside.) What do you think? Any other ideas?
