Days of Abandonment Series
“The sea and the sand”
You were my person,
You are my prison.
A slave to your tongue, a love unsung.
You were the one, but now I run,
And pray for ways to come undone.
You were my person, you are my poison.
I slept in the sunlight,
For seas and seasons,
And in my many lives,
You were the reason.
-Dieudonne
Earlier on shift we ran a call in a pub for an assault, one of the bystanders drinking in the pub happened to be a guy I went to high school with that used to be a part of a group that made fun of me. He walked right up to me while I was standing with police and the fire department and was trying to be friendly with me, as if he never treated me poorly or participated in making my high school life traumatic. The fire guys and PD had him step back and it made me feel two ways. One it got under my skin a little being reminded of those shitty times, two it made me feel warm and belonging that that is no longer my life, that the first responders with me are my current life and that I blossomed and grew dispite whatever hardships. That specific kid was friends with my extremely toxic ex boyfriend that I was involved with for years. (The main reason I was made fun of by that specific group.)
I came home from work to my boyfriend today sound asleep, a clean house, dishes done, laundry done, dinner in the fridge and my favorite wine on the table. All things my boyfriend of almost a year did for me today.
It really makes me happy to be face to face with the small increments of my past and with my current life standing right by my side proud and strong. I am so appreciative for the friends I have made, the friends that have been here the whole time, my family, and my boyfriend. I’m also appreciative of my past for helping me grow as a human as well as teach me how I am supposed to be treated as well as how I am not supposed to be treated. Always be thankful for the struggle, it’s meant to teach you.
There’s many more lessons I’ll learn in life, and I look forward to always growing and staying humble. 🌱

Social Media on the Awareness of Covid-19
Social media is a tool that plays a crucial role in the society. It reconnects people whether near or far, it gives pertinent issues about the surroundings, it let's people express themselves through their thoughts and notions and it makes people cognizant about the surroundings.
During this unprecedented times, Covid-19 has inflicted havoc in the society and has caused deleterious outcomes not only in the health of the citizens but also in the economy and all other sectors of the community. Thankfully, social media is present in alleviating the further spread of the disease by disseminating relevant informations about Covid-19 for the awareness of the public.
Social media has helped families be apprised of the informations pertaining to the pandemic thus it made them prepare about the probable situations that might happen. It made them create wise discernments and plan out preventive measures of getting infected with the disease. Since lockdowns and social distancing are prevalent practices today, social media made a way for families to communicate with other relatives to avert them from meeting personally.
Frontliners employs social media as a medium of communication to the public with the purpose of dispersing information to be able to help the general public cope up with the unaccustomed situation. For example medical workers posting health related tips and preventive measures in dealing with the virus. Through this citizens will make sagacious decisions in combating with the issue.
The government also uses social media in this time of the pandemic in providing the citizens information about their current platforms and plans to assuage the number of Covid patients and assess the problem. The government also provides new sets of rules and ordinances in keeping the people from getting infected hence it is posted online to let the people know what they should and should not do.
Looking back at the past years, we have seen a significant change of the usage of technology in disseminating certain informations. In the past, social media is non-existent therefore delivering messages would have to be through traditional media just like radios, television, letters and newspapers where delivering of informations are a lot slower. Thus people tend to wait for a longer period of time to be aware of the happenings situating in the society. Communication between people in remote distances would not be able to discourse every day since social media wasn't present in those times therefore the usage of letters are commonly utilized however it takes months for the person to receive a letter. In this current situation where social media is present, substantial informations are at a tip of our fingertips and is useful as we get infos about the current updates about the pandemic thus we are able to prepare ourselves and cope up with the situation.
As we age, longing for the past in some way is inevitable. Instead of trying to let go of it completely, maybe we need to learn to coexist with it. To not let it take away our joy of the present moment, but rather acknowledge that there will always be places, people, experiences, and things that we’ll miss. It’s impossible to fully let go because these things are a part of us, and rightfully so. Letting them be in the background, not letting the past define our current state of being, is the best we can hope for. - Erica Bell
