Tender meatballs are cooked in a rich tomato sauce and served over al dente spaghetti in this classic Italian-American dish.
Ingredients: 1 lb spaghetti. 1 lb ground beef. 1/2 cup breadcrumbs. 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese. 1/4 cup chopped parsley. 1 egg. 1/2 onion, finely chopped. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 can 28 oz crushed tomatoes. 1 tablespoon tomato paste. 1 teaspoon dried oregano. 1 teaspoon dried basil. Salt and pepper to taste. 2 tablespoons olive oil. Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving.
Instructions: Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove meatballs from skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, and dried basil. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Return the meatballs to the skillet with the sauce. Cover and simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through. Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
