You will need to send original documents to the passport office. Because of this it is very important you spend the extra money to have your documents/application sent ‘signed for’. You can also include a stamped addressed ‘signed for’ envelope for the safe return of your documents. It can be expensive but it is worth it to ensure these important documents get to the office and safely back to you.

Yes your GP can provide this letter. Just make sure that they state in the letter that your change of gender is permanent and you provide the other evidence required.
