I literally only saw a headline saying something about Emily Wilson saying "she wouldn't have written" the film the way it's written (ie, with contemporary dialogue). Given that it was just a headline (clickbait), I am fully aware she may have been saying it in a number of ways, including several that aren't even critical of the film. And honestly I didn't care enough to find out.

It is *I* who have no interest in Matt Damon doing pretty much anything. You may want to reread my post and tags; there were three separate topics there and none of them was Emily Wilson's opinion of Ralph Fiennes vs. Matt Damon. Not even close.

My post was about the fact a woman has translated The Odyssey. Everything else was just my own tangential commentary.

I believe a part of Thomas' unique success is that it doesn't follow Cars (Pixar) logic where the vehicles are in the role of humans, and it doesn't follow most animated movie logic (Primarily considered "Toy Story logic", but I also apply the same from lots of other animation [including occasions with DreamWorks and regular Disney] alongside most of Pixar) where it's down-to-earth, but the anthropomorphized or fictionalized beings are kept secret from people, like what would happen with toys, emotions, or even talking animals where animals can't speak to humans, and it makes sense for the animated movies' respective standards, and works for those standards, but Thomas has different standards from most other animation. The Fat Controller/Sir Topham Hatt is the main person character in the franchise, and he and other people speak to the engines/trains in general.

This is what I believe is a part of what made Thomas unique and timeless to so many people.
