Am 18. Dezember 2020 (3. Tewet 5781) sprach Rabbiner Dr. Walter Rothschild in Berlin das Wort zum Schabbat.
Der zehnte Wochenabschnitt im neuen Lesezyklus lautet „Mikez", מקץ „Am Ende“. Er umfasst 1. Buch Mose 41–44,17.
In diesem Tora-Abschnitt deutet Josef Pharaos Träume, wird zum ägyptischen Vizekönig ernannt und verwirklicht seinen Plan, um die Gegend vor der Hungersnot zu bewahren. Josef verhält sich harsch gegenüber seinen Brüdern, die nach Ägypten kommen, um Getreide zu kaufen. Er verlangt, dass Benjamin nach Ägypten gebracht wird. Als Benjamin schließlich kommt, wird er beschuldigt, einen Diebstahl begangen zu haben.
