"WAIT!"
The shout comes out of nowhere on her ship. She's alone, surely? But sure enough when Carol turns around she sees a trickster in the doorway, poised dramatically.
"Oh, yes, wait a minute, Mr Postman!"
She's not even playing the track anymore and yet it resounds through the ship in accompaniment to the god who has burst into song and begun dancing inanely, not caring what state of dress she's in.
"Wai-ai-ai-aiiiit, Mr Postman!"
There are Lokis everywhere then: singing into illusory microphones; doing complementary dances to the main man; twirling through the corridor behind him. Loki #1 gestures at Carol, ever wary of needing to teleport if she or Goose decide to bring his performance to an abrupt end.

Peter could almost always be found up here- the tallest spot possible on the entire Avengers Compound (and on days he didn't want to be found, he had his other, more secluded hiding spots). Sometimes he was sketching (a hobby he'd recently picked up) and listening to music, sometimes just sitting and thinking while watching the faint and distant NYC skyline that was visible from here on clear days. But mostly it was what he was doing right now- doing some sort of school work. Granted he'd long since completed everything he needed to graduate high school- finishing all of that early even without the gap that pretty much all schools had had while they worked out how to handle classes with half the population gone- and he'd yet to figure out what he wanted to do about college but... Still. It kept him busy and his mind occupied.
Something that he'd really needed over the past year.
Today, though, his gaze kept wandering over to a folder he'd brought up here with him. It didn't have any schoolwork in it and, for the moment, it was being held down with just enough web fluid to keep it from blowing away in the slight breeze. Sure, it was something he'd asked about but... Maybe he wasn't as ready to think about it as he thought. Maybe he still needed a little more time before he went back to the city he'd called home for his entire life.

"Alert. Alert. This is the Kree Accuser Warship Venoran, transmitting a priority advisory. Our vessel has been attacked, invaded, and crippled by a cybernetic entity of unidentified composition and origin. Self-destruct measures have been disabled by the entity. Attempts to subdue the entity with conventional weaponry have proven unsuccessful. Advise any and all civilian vessels within a one light-year radius to remain clear. Kree Authority vessels, establish communications blackout with Venoran and relay priority signal to Supreme Intelligence for further instruction.
"Alert. Alert. This isā¦"
~*~*~*~
The Venoran had been home to five elite units, every member of them privy to their own preference of weaponry and tactics. But what good was it to be when their quarry was, by all accounts, intangible? Every blade, every slug, every blast of energy seemed to pass through the pale biped harmlessly, and did not seem to interdict it in the slightest.
It might as well have been a ghost. Perhaps it was a vengeful revenant that had attached to the hull following some prior culling, and fashioned a body for itself out of the Venoran's parts and pieces. But that would not explain its eye-straining sheen, brilliant white with gleaming neon blue in its eyes and its forehead. And the quantities of the Venoran were known elements. This being was something else entirely, that it could seem to phase out of all tangible existence with merely a thought.
Arcs of energy burst from the sapphire core in its head, lancing into Kree elites with precision to make even the likes of the legendary Minn-Erva jealous. Some were concussive, tossing them back against bulkheads and knocking them unconscious on impact. Others were not quite so forgiving, and burned holes through limbs and joints.
The entity did not stop until it had invaded the bridge, and confronted the Accuser standing defiant with his hammer in both hands.
Those hands remained attached to the hammer longer than to the Accuser.
The entity had brought the hammer down upon the nearest control panel, shattering the holographic prismatic displays and revealing the circuitry beneath. It was the circuitry that the being touched with its open hand⦠and moments later, the breathable air in the vessel was being evacuated into the bleak dark of space beyond.
Most of the Kree made it to escape pods and shuttles without further incident. And it was only after the atmosphere had been nullified for a full hour's time that it repressurized the vessel's interior and opened its eyes, at last, to behold the ship it had single-handedly overtaken.
It turned around, and became abruptly aware that it was not alone on the ship as it had imagined.
It was immediately intrigued. An emotional borne out by the way it tilted its head askance.
And spoke into the newly restored atmosphere.
"Captain Carol Danvers."

Ā Ā Peter couldnāt help but admit, the captain looked damn mighty fine in that red leather jacket that had his name emblazoned on the back of it... perhaps the title ofĀ āStar-Lordā was befitting Danvers? Who was to say, really.Ā
Ā Ā āWell, some might take it as a sign of you wanting to take on my name...ā Quill began to jest, before walking over to close the gap between him and the other,Ā ā...which, all things considered, I wouldnāt mind at all.ā he smirks, pressing his forehead against hers whilst hands get comfortable on her waist.Ā
Ā Ā Carol Susan Jane Quill? He could get quite used to the sound of that.Ā

He first notices that somethingās up when he spots that her side of the shared snack drawer is untouched. Completely untouched. The oreos are unopened, the gummy bears are accounted for, the chocolate bars undisturbed and every single other Terran treat heās procured for Carol has been left there as if forgotten.
It makes Quillās brows meet in the middle, creases along his forehead indicating confusion.
He knows that these are snacks she enjoys, for he never risks buying her something she wonāt like when itās so difficult to get his hands on Terran food in the Knowhere markets. He also knows that Carol is not the type to keep all of this for a special time. Sheās not as bad as he is, but there definitely should have been proof of some nibbling at the snacks by now.
And yet there they are, just as he left the drawer when heād filled it to the brim with edible treasure.
Something is definitely wrong, and Peter wastes no time in turning his head to look at the woman whoās sat on his bed and tapping away at the hologram a screen is projecting.
āHeyā¦ā he asks, āare you okay? You havenāt touched the oreos. You know how hard it is to get those, we donāt want āem going bad.ā

Jake would never admit it, but heād been starting to flag. Heād been fighting...monsters? Aliens? He wasnāt really sure whatĀ they were, only that they apparently didnāt have anything to do with Ancient Egypt, thank you, Steven. Whatever the case, heād been fighting too many of them for too long, barely able to keep up with hoard of them, and they were just as brutal as he was.Ā
Crescent darts flew every which way, embedding themselves deep into the creaturesā hides, as he tried to keep the collateral damage to a minimum. Jake took down as many as he could from up close as well, jumping from one creature to the next, doing his best to keep their attention on him, but people were still getting hurt. Most had run screaming from the scene, too many hadnāt managed made it that far. Already heād begun to hear screams from further awayāthe creatures were spreading outābut every time he managed to take one of the things down, it felt as if three more popped up in its place.
Where the hell were the Avengers?!Ā Wasnāt this exactly their kind of crazy?
As if the gods themselves had heard his thoughtsāand they probably had, the bastards, but Jake didnāt believe for a second that this was their doingāa star shot down from the sky and began plowing through the creatures. The starātheĀ woman, it was a womanāwas incredible. Ethereal. She was fast, fought like hell, and whatever those energy blasts were made of tore through the creatures like wet paper.
Capitana Maravilla.
Jake was a bit of a fan, but he was also a professional, so he kept right on fighting whileĀ he openly gaped at her. The number of creatures had already thinned quite a bit, thanks to her, and bolstered by the feeling that they might actually win this fight, he took advantage of this second wind and punched and kicked with renewed vigor; sliced and diced until he was covered head to toe in black blood. Once he was close enough that she would hear, he called out to her:
āI thought youād be taller!ā Nice of you to join the fight!

Just because the battle was over, didnāt mean the work stopped. There was still work to be done. Dead to recover, people to rescue, debris to shift. Luckily, Wanda had skills that allowed her to locate people and move about the large wreckage that had been the compound. She stepped over some rocks to see the woman from before, the one who glowed, lifting what seemed to be a wall up as some volunteers tried to pull someone out. The woman looked as tired as Wanda felt. She raised her hands and the red mist formed around the wall and kept it up. āTake a break.ā She called to the woman as she continued to approach.
